Here are highlights from Friday's Analyst Blog: Duke Realty Appoints New VP and COO Duke Realty Corporation (NYSE:DRE-Free Report), a real estate investment trust, announced the appointment of James B. Connor as its new Senior Executive Vice President (VP) and Chief Operating Officer (COO). This reflects a promotion for Connor from his former post of Senior Regional Executive Vice President. James B. Connor is with Duke Realty since the last 15 years. In 1998, he joined the company as Senior VP, Industrial Operations. He was promoted to Regional Executive VP, Midwest Operations in 2003 and later to the post of Senior Regional Executive VP in 2009. Before joining Duke Realty, Mr. Connor worked for Cushman and Wakefield for 17 years. With his vast expertise in the industrial real estate industry, Connor can be easily regarded as a veteran in the sector. We expect Duke Realty's successful trajectory to gain further upside from his skilled guidance and supervision in the new post. Lately, Duke Realty has been going through senior executives transitions. In May 2013, the company announced the decision of its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Christie B. Kelly to quit her post. Consequently, Mark A. Denien substituted her. Kelly parted with Duke Realty to join Jones Lang LaSalle (NYSE:JLL-Free Report) – another REIT – as the CFO. Notably, in July, Duke Realty reported second-quarter 2013 results with core funds from operations (FFO) of 27 cents per share, in line with the Zacks Consensus Estimate and a penny above the prior-year quarter FFO of 26 cents. Better rental operations as well as a reduction in general and administrative expenses attributed to the year-over-year increase. Duke Realty currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Other better performing REITs include Winthrop Realty Trust (NYSE:FUR-Free Report) and Chesapeake Lodging Trust (NYSE:CHSP-Free Report). Both these stocks have a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy). TriQuint Buys CAP Wireless In a concerted effort to augment market presence, TriQuint Semiconductor Inc. (Nasdaq:TQNT-Free Report) recently acquired CA-based CAP Wireless, Inc. and its patented Spatium RF (radio frequency) power combining technology for an undisclosed amount. The combined company would boast a wider selection of high-power, high-frequency products by leveraging TriQuint's leading position as a gallium nitride (GaN) pioneer and CAP Wireless' expertise in high-power RF solid state amplifier systems. The Spatium technology of CAP Wireless improves RF power efficiency, increases reliability, boosts power densities and reduces weight compared with other available variants. This is mostly achieved through the use of patented coaxial spatial combining techniques in its products. It is widely used in high-performance traveling wave tube amplifiers (TWTAs) and amplifier-based subsystems like electronic warfare, communications and radars, which are largely used by leading defense and communications companies worldwide. TriQuint anticipates the market for TWTAs to exceed $600 million by 2015. Consequently, the acquisition offers tremendous revenue-generating potential for TriQuint. Post-acquisition, TriQuint will continue operation of CAP Wireless product sales and contracts, while developing new devices based on Spatium technology using GaN and GaAs MMIC amplifiers. Headquartered in Hillsboro, OR, TriQuint manufactures semiconductors for the wireless handset segment, infrastructure networks, and defense markets. TriQuint products reduce costs and increase the performance of connected mobile devices and networks that deliver critical voice, data and video communications. TriQuint currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Today, Zacks is promoting its ''Buy'' stock recommendations. Get #1Stock of the Day pick for free.
