American InterContinental University (AIU), an established institution
offering both campus-based and online degree programs, will celebrate the
academic accomplishments of more than 250 AIU Online graduates at its
commencement ceremony Aug. 24. Judge Glenda Hatchett will deliver the
commencement address.

“AIU is committed to providing students with targeted, efficient learning to
drive their success,” said Dr. George Miller, president of AIU. “Judge Glenda
Hatchett’s education played a vital role in her achievements, and we’re
honored to have her share her background and professional experience with our
graduates.”

Hatchett is known for her two-time Emmy nominated show, Judge Hatchett. She is
also an accomplished author and recipient of the Emory Medal at Emory
University of Law, the highest award given by the university. Hatchett
received the award for her commitment to excellence and service within the
community.

“Earning a degree is a major accomplishment for students,” said Hatchett. “I’m
thrilled to be part of AIU graduates’ special day and look forward to learning
more about their experiences.”

In the last 10 years, AIU has graduated more than 80,000 students through its
online and ground campuses. Students often return to AIU for second and even
third degrees, and in the last 10 years, AIU has awarded more than 120,000
degrees to students through its online and ground campuses.

Showcasing Academic Achievement

In addition to Hatchett’s commencement address, the graduation ceremony will
also feature a speech by the AIU Student Speaker Crystal Hogue (AIU BBA 2012,
MBA 2013). AIU graduates were invited to submit speeches highlighting their
educational, professional and personal growth for the chance to be selected as
the AIU Student Speaker.

AIU will also recognize Ana Carolina Lanuza, winner of the 2013 AIU
Distinguished Alumni Award, at the ceremony. Each year, the AIU Alumni
Association recognizes the achievements of one of its alumni with the award.
Lanuza, who earned three degrees (AABA, BCSJ and MBA) from AIU Online and AIU
South Florida, is the owner of Leverage Investigations, Inc., and serves as
president of the Florida Association of Private Investigators.

Recognition for Active Duty and Veteran Graduates

AIU has long been dedicated to delivering degree programs that meet the needs
of today’s veterans and members of the military. For the first time this year,
AIU will award active duty and veteran graduates with the Americana Military
Cord. AIU is frequently recognized as a top military-friendly school by
publications including Military Edge Magazine, G.I. Jobs Magazine and Military
Advanced Education Magazine.

The 2013 commencement ceremony will take place at Navy Pier in Chicago on
Saturday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m. Hatchett will also participate in a special
