GTSO CEO to Discuss Future of Recycling With RERA Sponsor Rep. Gene Green
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- August 1, 2013
This month, Green Technology Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB: GTSO) CEO Paul Watson
will attend a business forum with the sponsor of the Responsible Electronics
Recycling Act (RERA) to discuss the bright future for e-waste recycling on the
horizon in the U.S.
U.S. Rep. Gene Green (TX-29) introduced the potentially game-changing bill to
Congress last week with bipartisan support. Coalition leaders say RERA is
essential for creating U.S. jobs and promoting investment in the domestic
recycling industry. Paul Watson will attend the forum with Green and other
stakeholders on August 21 to offer his support for the legislation and offer
ways that GTSO and its affiliates can help lead the U.S. e-waste recycling
industry into a new era of efficiency and profitability.
“E-waste is the fastest-growing waste stream here in the U.S., and its
improper disposal can pose grievous risks to the environment and public health
here at home and around the world,” Watson said. “If this bill is passed,
domestic recyclers such as GTSO will be able to help build a competitive
e-waste recycling industry and infrastructure that will have us well-prepared
for the challenges ahead.”
The EPA estimates that the U.S. generates more than 3.4 million tons of
electronic waste each year. A large percentage of this e-waste collected for
recycling today is exported to third-world nations to be dismantled using
primitive, unsafe methods. Proper recycling of this material at home
represents a potential goldmine for GTSO and other U.S. companies.
Urban mining is key to GTSO’s plans to compete alongside major international
corporations striving for sustainable waste solutions, such as Industrial
Services of America (NASDAQ: IDSA) and Sims Metal Management Ltd. (NYSE:SMS).
Late last year, GTSO acquired the companyGlobal Cell Buyers and soon after
rebranded the company asGreen Urban Mining to handleits domestic recycling
and resale operations.
