Randall Scarlett of the Scarlett Law Group, URL, Was Interviewed on CNTV in China
Regarding the Plane Crash in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/11/13 -- Randall H.
Scarlett is a trial attorney who represents clients who have suffered
traumatic brain injuries and severe spinal cord injuries as a result
of the negligent and/or reckless actions of others. Mr. Scarlett has
been representing clients who have faced these difficult situations
for 25 years, and he has either directed trials or served as a
consultant across the United States. In the aftermath of the tragic
Asiana Airlines flight 214 crash at the San Francisco International
Airport last weekend, Mr. Scarlett was asked to appear on CNTV, a
national television news network in China to provide his perspective
on several aspects of this terrible situation.
Mr. Scarlett appeared on CNTV on Tuesday, July 9 and he answered
several questions regarding the injuries that the surviving
passengers and crew members could face and the potential liability
that could be faced by different parties who were involved in the
matter. Mr. Scarlett also provided the viewing audience in China with
a brief synopsis of his own background and qualifications so that
those viewers could obtain an idea of what this crash could lead to
in the near future.
With regards to the injuries that may have been suffered by the
surviving passengers, Mr. Scarlett stated that based on reports that
he had seen regarding the manner in which the seatbacks moved from
compression to hyperextension that spinal cord injuries, concussions
and traumatic brain injuries may have been inflicted on the people
sitting in those seats. He also stated that he believes that within
24 - 48 hours after the crash that a 'second wave' of hospital
admissions would occur when people realize that something is wrong.
In terms of potential legal liability, Mr. Scarlett stated to the
interviewer that it was too early in the National Transportation
Safety Board's investigation to identify potential liable parties
clearly. However, he stated that it's possible that pilot error could
be a cause based on t
he speed and slope of the vessel as it attempted
to land, that the airline seats manufacturers could face questions
because of reports that injuries can occur even in hard landings and
that other parts manufacturers could face liability if the
investigation reveals that certain parts failed.
Finally, Mr. Scarlett discussed his experience and his qualifications
with the interviewer on CNTV. He told the interviewer that he had
been handling trials involving traumatic brain injuries and spinal
cord injuries on behalf of clients for 25 years, that he is a Board
Member with BIACAL, otherwise known as the Brain Injury Association
of California and that he has been brought in to consult on trials
regarding brain and spinal cord injuries across the United States.
