Parker Introduces New Viking Lite Valve Series and Expands Viking Xtreme Valve Series Business Wire RICHLAND, Mich. -- July 1, 2013 Parker Hannifin Corporation (www.parker.com/pneumatic), the global leader in motion and control technologies, has introduced a new low-cost inline solenoid valve, the Viking Lite Valve Series. The valves feature Parker’s Wear Compensating System (WCS), which comprises a spool seal that under pressure expands radially, thus maintaining sealing contact with the valve bore. The benefit of WSC is it compensates for wear during usage, extending cycle life and reliability. The system requires no lubrication and provides lower pilot pressures for fast response and less wear. The Viking Lite Valve Series is designed to operate with standard pressures of up to 145 PSIG and standard temperatures ranges of 14 degrees F to 122 degrees F (-10 degrees ^ C to 50 ^ degrees ^ C), making them suitable for applications including general industrial and food processing. The Viking Lite Valve Series come in 3-way and 4-way 2-position single and double solenoid and 4-way 3-position double solenoid functions, 1/8, 1/4 or 3/8 port sizes with a standard 22-pin 3-Pin DIN solenoid connector. The valves can mount individually or collectively on an IEM bar manifold. In addition, Parker has expanded the line of Viking Xtreme Valve Series (solenoid and remote pilot valves) with a 3-way, 2-position valve to provide a wider range of applications from general industrial to rugged environments. The Viking Xtreme Valve Series solenoid and remote pilot valves come in two different versions — the Normal Version and the Xtreme Version. The Normal Version is unique because, while the valve operates in standard temperature and pressure ranges, it is available with hazardous duty, intrinsically safe or ATEX-approved solenoids. The Normal Version targets applications ranging from general industrial to mobile where a robust valve is needed that can withstand harsh environments at standard temperatures and pressure. The Xtreme Version was specifically designed for harsh applications in transportation, lumber, oil and gas industries and mining. As such, it features stainless steel armatures and a remote air-piloted valve. The Xtreme Version works in temperatures ranging -40 ^ degrees F to 140 degrees ^ F (-40 degrees ^ C to 70 degrees ^ C) and pressures ranging from vacuum to 232 PSIG and have passed 5 g shock in vibration tests and 500 hour salt spray tests. Besides the 3-way, 2-position valve, options for both the Normal and the Xtreme Versions include 4-way, 2-position and 4-way, 3-position valves. Solenoid connectivity options include 22-pin, DIN; grommet; 30 mm square and 1/2 inch conduit. Parker has also added to its Viking Xtreme Manual Valve Series with a 3-way, 3 position valve and added 3/8 and 1/2 port sizes. With a temperature range of -40 ^ o F to 140 degrees ^ F (-40 degrees ^ C to 70 degrees ^ C) and a maximum pressure rating of 232 PSIG, the mechanical, lever-operated Viking Xtreme Manual Valve Series is suitable for mobile applications in harsh environments such as mining, rail, pulp and paper and agri-food. Other additions to the line include large handles with rugged stainless steel shafts which are easy to grip with gloved hands, size B twist knobs for panel mount applications. The valves have passed 5 g shock in vibration tests and 500 hour salt spray tests. Standard to the solenoid and the manual versions of the Xtreme Series are an over-molded spool ground to exact size for large flow capacity, stainless steel screws to resist aggressive environments and sintered bronze pilot chamber breathers for protection against the ingress of dirt. All valves in the Viking Lite Valve Series and the Viking Xtreme Valve Series are IP 65 and CE rated and RoHS compliant.
