Hill+Knowlton Strategies China Bolsters Digital Practice with Brand New
Offering - Social PR Lab
SHANGHAI -- June 27, 2013
As one of Hill+Knowlton Strategies’ efforts in expanding their digital
practice in China, digital global lead Andrew Bleeker has introduced its brand
new offering, Social PR Lab in China today. This is part of the firm’s
continual innovative development strategy to bolster its thought leadership
platform for its digital practice.
“Globally, digital landscapes are evolving rapidly, but in China it really is
moving very fast. Through our experience and what we have observed, there is a
shift in the way brands, companies and authorities communicate. No longer are
traditional and digital communication platforms working as silo units, we are
experiencing a convergence between on and offline spaces. We term it the
‘social’ way of communications”, Andrew Bleeker, H+K Strategies’ global
digital lead and new media director for the US Presidential Inaugural
Committee said. “At Hill+Knowlton Strategies, we are always constantly pushing
ourselves to stay ahead of the curve and coming up with new and innovative
ways to provide our clients effective communications, with the best strategic
counsel, best execution and best resources that will meet their business
needs. And this is why our digital capabilities in China are so important to
In response to the evolving digital landscape in China, H+K Strategies China
established its new methodology, Social PR Lab.
Aimed at advising clients on how to fully maximize outreach and impact in both
the on and offline spaces, the Social PR Lab creates a directional PR
conversation for clients by utilizing a 360 degree approach towards
communication channels. It builds on the ‘social’ way of communicating by
implementing creative ideas and experiences to communicate a brand’s key
messages and story through the most relevant channels in the modern Chinese
media landscape. Whether it is consumer brands or authorities, Social PR Lab
helps them to understand and integrate traditional and digital channels with
the right messages to maximize their reach.
Clients would also be guided through a three step exploration process,
Discover, Create and Connect, providing them with a complete understanding of
the environment, a creative direction, and ultimately, helping their brand
develop and implement effective communications strategies. It also ensures all
strategic formulation and communication methodologies are created from a point
of view that sees digital and traditional media as one layer - the ‘social’
layer of communication.
Ivy Soonthornsima, co-president of Hill+Knowlton Strategies China said, “We
have seen, especially over the last year, brands running to try and acquire as
much media space as possible through social channels, Weibo and WeChat in
particular. But now, given the maturity of the market and the dominance of a
number of players in the social media space, we expect a real return to
basics, a rediscovery of branding. With Social PR Lab, it gives clients the
ability to easily understand, finesse and transmit their brand messages across
all channels in a way that is not bias to new technologies and at the same
time, reaches out its various stakeholders in a tailored and effective manner.
Social PR Lab is an exciting tool that further cements our thought leadership
in China’s communications industry.”
