The data account for how an employee values each factor as well as how important that factor is to the employee’s overall happiness. Each review is given an average score indicating where the company places between one and five. All assessments are derived from 2011-2013 from independent employee reviews. “It’s clear that a positive work environment and relationship with coworkers has the greatest impact on overall workplace happiness for people in the travel industry,” says Golledge. “For example, Crowne Plaza (ranked No. 1), received high scores from employees in the area of company reputation, management and their relationship with their peers.” In addition, hotels such as the Ritz-Carlton also had their highest average score in the area of employee relationships. Across the board, work culture and peer relationships were the largest factors that impact happiness for hoteliers.
