GLENDALE, Calif. -- June 24, 2013

Everbridge, the leading provider of interactive communication and mass
notification solutions announced that Northeast Utilities, New England’s
largest utility system serving more than 3.6 million electric and natural gas
customers in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, uses the
Everbridge system for its emergency and daily incident management
communications.

Being a utilities company, Northeast Utilities faces many issues during and
after major storms. Northeast Utilities uses the Everbridge’s system
frequently during outages and major storms, such as Hurricane Irene and Super
Storm Sandy. In fact, the Everbridge system enables Northeast Utilities to
communicate with employees, even when the cell phone towers are overwhelmed
and phone lines are not working.

In addition to emergencies, Northeast Utilities utilizes the Everbridge system
on a non-emergency basis for white powder incidents and small fires and
evacuations, among other incident types. Northeastern Utilities runs very
large scale mock exercises with their operating companies using the Everbridge
system. Some of the lessons learned from these exercises include preparing
boiler plate messages in advance that can address a wide range of incidents as
well as creating call lists ahead of time.

“One of the nice things about using the Everbridge system on a non-emergency
basis is that when an emergency comes, we know the data in the system is
accurate and our administrators are comfortable sending notifications,” said
Ed Goldberg, Northeast Utilities Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
manager. “That’s clearly a best practice; making it almost routine to get a
message from the Everbridge system ensures that recipients are able to manage
critical events and perform their duties as required and without delay.”

“The Everbridge system is incredibly versatile and useful for organizations
that want to maintain a single platform for all of their critical
communications,” Imad Mouline, chief strategy officer at Everbridge has said.
“By using the Everbridge system for both emergency and non-emergency
incidents, organizations are able to improve their communications strategy for
both frequently occurring incidents as well as emergency events.”
