WHO: Salt Lake City-based blogger Kathy Dalton will represent the city in the
Gemalto 2013 Contactless Challenge, where she will compete against fellow
blogger Austin, Texas-based Josh Kerr. The bloggers, who have large
followings among technology enthusiasts, moms and entrepreneurs, will use
their blogs and Twitter channels to chronicle their experience of paying for
various products and services using "near field communication" (NFC)
contactless payment technology at participating retailers.

WHAT:At the start of the Contactless Challenge, Dalton and Kerr will be given
a NFC-enabled mobile phone and a list of transactions they must complete
within the week. Each completed transaction will earn the bloggers points, in
addition to "bonus points" for creativity. For example, the bloggers will be
encouraged to incorporate tips from their social followers on potential tasks,
such as contactless payments via a drive-thru, going to a movie, paying for a
haircut, buying flowers, redeeming a coupon, and much more. Points will
accumulate toward a cash donation made by Gemalto to the bloggers' charity of
choice.

WHEN/WHERE: The Contactless Challenge kicked off June 10 at midnight. The
following two events are open for media participation:

TWITTER CHAT: A Twitter Chat will be held Wednesday, June 12 from 1-2 p.m. MT
for Dalton (@KathyDaltonSLC) and Kerr (@JoshKerr) to discuss their experiences
using their NFC-enabled mobile phones. The chat, hosted on
http://twubs.com/gemaltonfc,will be facilitated by @JustAskGemalto and will
use the hashtag #GemaltoNFC.

IN-STORE MEET-UP: Dalton will be onsite at the Sugar House Whole Foods on
Thursday, June 13 at 7 p.m. to demonstrate the mobile payment technology and
field questions about the challenge. The event will include complimentary
dessert courtesy of Gemalto. Whole Foods is located at 1131 E. Wilmington
Ave. Salt Lake City, Utah 84106.
