Allianz Life Gives More Than $1.8 Million and 12,000 Hours to the Community
Company’s 2012 Report to the Community Highlights Focus on Financial Literacy,
MINNEAPOLIS -- June 12, 2013
Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life®) announced in
its 2012 Report to the Community that it gave more than $1.8 million to
support Twin Cities’ community organizations and nonprofits in 2012 through
corporate and employee giving and volunteerism. Allianz Life employees gave
approximately 12,000 hours of time to the community. The company will continue
making a difference in 2013 via grants, volunteering, and charitable

The 2012 Report to the Community – now available as a pdf through the company
website – describes Allianz Life’s many corporate and employee-oriented giving
and community engagement programs, including the deep and highly successful
partnership with financial literacy nonprofit organizations Junior Achievement
Allianz Life supports senior services through various initiatives, including
the annual Driving to Donate golf tournament, which ranked as the number one
tournament in 2012 for the highest percentage of gross revenues going to
charity by the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal, April 5, 2013. The
tournament raised more than $159,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association MN-ND
with more than 300 employees participating in the 2012 golf tournament.
Allianz Life also gave $275,000 in grants to organizations that provide senior
services. Organizations include: Store To Door, PRISM, and Canvas Health along
with more than 15 other non-profit groups. The company deepened its
partnership with the nonprofit organization, Senior Community Services, which
helps seniors stay self-sufficient and promotes social activity, and will
continue to engage employees to support the organization in 2013.
Financial Literacy and Scholarship Programs
Allianz Life continued its partnership with Junior Achievement and BestPrep in
2012, with both organizations receiving $100,000 and Allianz Life committing
to the partnership through 2016. More than 600 Allianz Life employees
volunteered for these organizations last year.
The company also contributed more than $275,000 in financial literacy grants
to 10 other nonprofits, including AccountAbility Minnesota, CLIMB Theatre,
Inc., and College Possible.
In addition to youth financial literacy, Allianz Life gave more than $30,000
in college scholarships to students who were family members of employees
through the company’s Legacy Scholarship program.
Allianz Life supports employee volunteerism by providing paid time off and
recognizing employees’ unique contributions in the community. Each quarter,
one employee is recognized as the Volunteer of the Quarter, earning accolades
and a donation of $1,000 to their organization. Along with recognition, the
company offers every employee eight hours of paid time off annually (V-8
hours) to volunteer with a school or nonprofit wherever they choose. In 2012,
nearly 3,700 of the 12,000 volunteered hours were from the V-8 hours program.
