Allianz Life Gives More Than $1.8 Million and 12,000 Hours to the Community Company’s 2012 Report to the Community Highlights Focus on Financial Literacy, Senior Services Business Wire MINNEAPOLIS -- June 12, 2013 Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life®) announced in its 2012 Report to the Community that it gave more than $1.8 million to support Twin Cities’ community organizations and nonprofits in 2012 through corporate and employee giving and volunteerism. Allianz Life employees gave approximately 12,000 hours of time to the community. The company will continue making a difference in 2013 via grants, volunteering, and charitable donations. "I’m proud to see Allianz Life employees work together to make lives better for those in our community,” said Allianz Life President and Chief Executive Officer Walter White. “They not only give their time and financial support, but they are also dedicated to supporting company-sponsored initiatives that focus on financial literacy and senior services.” The 2012 Report to the Community – now available as a pdf through the company website – describes Allianz Life’s many corporate and employee-oriented giving and community engagement programs, including the deep and highly successful partnership with financial literacy nonprofit organizations Junior Achievement and BestPrep. Senior Services Allianz Life supports senior services through various initiatives, including the annual Driving to Donate golf tournament, which ranked as the number one tournament in 2012 for the highest percentage of gross revenues going to charity by the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal, April 5, 2013. The tournament raised more than $159,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association MN-ND with more than 300 employees participating in the 2012 golf tournament. Allianz Life also gave $275,000 in grants to organizations that provide senior services. Organizations include: Store To Door, PRISM, and Canvas Health along with more than 15 other non-profit groups. The company deepened its partnership with the nonprofit organization, Senior Community Services, which helps seniors stay self-sufficient and promotes social activity, and will continue to engage employees to support the organization in 2013. Financial Literacy and Scholarship Programs Allianz Life continued its partnership with Junior Achievement and BestPrep in 2012, with both organizations receiving $100,000 and Allianz Life committing to the partnership through 2016. More than 600 Allianz Life employees volunteered for these organizations last year. The company also contributed more than $275,000 in financial literacy grants to 10 other nonprofits, including AccountAbility Minnesota, CLIMB Theatre, Inc., and College Possible. In addition to youth financial literacy, Allianz Life gave more than $30,000 in college scholarships to students who were family members of employees through the company’s Legacy Scholarship program. Volunteerism Allianz Life supports employee volunteerism by providing paid time off and recognizing employees’ unique contributions in the community. Each quarter, one employee is recognized as the Volunteer of the Quarter, earning accolades and a donation of $1,000 to their organization. Along with recognition, the company offers every employee eight hours of paid time off annually (V-8 hours) to volunteer with a school or nonprofit wherever they choose. In 2012, nearly 3,700 of the 12,000 volunteered hours were from the V-8 hours program. At Allianz Life, employee volunteerism continues to be an avenue for supporting programs in social services, arts, cultural diversity, education, and health along with corporate priorities of senior services and financial literacy.
