AT&T 3G/4G Combo Named Best for Speed and Value

Award follows fastest national 4G LTE results from PCWorld/TechHive

PR Newswire

DALLAS, May 23, 2013

DALLAS, May 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --AT&T* wireless customers are getting a
combination of ultra-fast mobile Internet service and value. PCWorld/TechHive
today ranked AT&T's as the fastest combination of 3G and 4G services in the 20
cities it tested. The website also said wireless customers in those cities are
most likely to get the "most bang" for their buck from AT&T.

The combined 3G and 4G network award today builds on PCWorld/TechHive's
announcement yesterday that AT&T's 4G LTE network was ranked fastest of all
major wireless carriers by PCWorld/TechHive in speed tests in 20 U.S. markets.
In today's follow-up report, PCWorld/TechHive ranked AT&T highest in overall
speed and pricing value for LTE service.**

AT&T has built the nation's largest 4G network covering more than 292 million
people and its customers are able to enjoy widespread, ultra-fast and
consistent 4G speeds on their compatible device as they move in and out of LTE
areas on AT&T 4G HSPA+. With some competitors, smartphone customers may fall
back to slower 3G technologies when outside of LTE coverage.

Wireless customers depend on their smartphones to manage their busy lives, and
AT&T offers a network experience built for speed. PCWorld/TechHive reports
AT&T users moving from 4G LTE to HSPA+ coverage don't experience a significant
speed drop-off, as is the case with the next highest ranked carrier.

PCWorld/TechHive also reported that AT&T wireless customers get the most
megabytes per second of data throughput for the money. The pricing and value
ranking was based on each carrier's most cost-effective service plans that
offer unlimited phone, texts and at least 4 Gb of mobile Internet use per

AT&T also outpaced the competition last year in PCWorld/TechHive's 2012
wireless Internet speed tests, having delivered faster download speeds than
any other national carrier in 13 cities tested. Speed is the name of the game
for mobile Internet service, as customers are taking advantage of smartphones
and apps to help manage their busy lives. In this year's PCWorld/TechHive
report, AT&T led the speed tests with an average download speed of 13.15 mbps
and an average upload speed of 6.45 mbps.

The AT&T 4G LTE network has also been recognized for speed and performance by
other third-party testing firms. AT&T 4G LTE is available in 228 markets and
covers more than 200 million people. Improving the wireless network continues
to be a priority for AT&T.

Over the past five years, AT&T invested nearly $98 billion into operations,
more than any other public company in the U.S.
