Siemens Scores Top Spot in Analyst's PLM Software Ranking for

Nuremberg, Germany, Wednesday, May 22, 2013 -- (Business Wire India)

Siemens has been recognized by leading PLM strategic management consulting and research firm, CIMdata Inc., as the market presence leader in the collaborative Product Definition management (cPDm) market segment for the 12th year in a row, and in the Digital Manufacturing market segment for the eighth year in a row. CIM-data's findings are based on in-depth data and analysis of the PLM market and were announced late last month.

Siemens‘ PLM software business unit addresses CIMdata's cPDm category with its Teamcenter® portfolio, the world's most widely used digital lifecycle management software, while its Tecnomatix® portfolio is the most widely used software in the digi-tal manufacturing market segment.

“According to our market research, Siemens continues to lead in Digital Manufactur-ing with significantly more revenue than the next ranked provider. The company also continues to set the pace in the critical cPDm market segment,” said Peter Bilello, President of CIMdata. “Growth slowed slightly in 2012 for cPDm, but will continue to expand at a high single digit growth rate for years to come.”

According to CIMdata's forecast, the cPDm market segment will experience a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.5 percent, resulting in a projected cPDm market size of approximately $16.2 billion by 2017, based on total software and services investments. CIMdata's forecast for Digital Manufacturing is estimated to maintain steady growth with a five-year CAGR of more than seven percent. Over-all, CIMdata reports that mainstream PLM is forecasted to grow at a five-year CAGR of over eight percent and continues to see growth as a key enterprise investment.

“This latest CIMdata report serves to highlight our consistent track record of leader-ship in some of the most important areas of PLM,” said Chuck Grindstaff, president and CEO, Siemens PLM Software. “We consider cPDm and Digital Manufacturing two of the most critical value creators for our customers today and well into the fu-ture. So maintaining our number one position in these disciplines is an important part of doing business and part of the foundation of our vision to help our customers make smarter decisions that result in better products.”

More detail will be available in CIMdata's upcoming 2012 PLM Market Analysis Re-port.
