Cobra Electronics Sets New Benchmarks in Radar Detection and Driver Awareness With Nationwide General Availability of Cobra iRadar ATOM

Newest Addition to Award-Winning iRadar Family Delivers Industry-Leading Performance and Smallest Form Factor on the Market

LAS VEGAS, NV -- (Marketwired) -- 05/21/13 -- CTIA - Cobra Electronics Corporation (NASDAQ: COBR), a leading designer and marketer of award-winning automotive, mobile and consumer electronics, today announced the nationwide general availability of the Cobra iRadar ATOM(TM), an ultra-compact smart detection system delivering class-leading detection performance and enhanced situational awareness for the ultimate in driver safety and information. The iRadar ATOM is available now at Amazon.com and www.cobra.com for a price of $199.95.

Based on the award-winning Cobra iRadar system, the Cobra iRadar ATOM is the most compact detector on the market while delivering unrivaled performance typically only available from units costing hundreds more. By utilizing state-of-the-art advancements in system design and the latest in component engineering, Cobra iRadar ATOM sports a 35 percent smaller form factor than previous iRadar models. The iRadar ATOM leverages Cobra's first-to-market and rapidly evolving iRadar app family, allowing users to connect their iOS and Android devices via Bluetooth(R) to the iRadar detection unit. Once paired with the free iRadar app, users can share alerts in real-time with other iRadar users nearby, including warnings of upcoming speed and red light camera enforcement, caution areas, dangerous intersections and live police locations.

With iRadar, the user's smartphone serves as a large, high-resolution graphical display, delivering an array of compelling, map-based visual alerts. The map view also features a Message Center where safety alerts are color-coded as red, yellow or green based on threat level and prominently displayed for easy viewing. The Cobra iRadar app also keeps drivers informed and aware of driving conditions with access to live traffic information nearby, audible maximum speed warning alerts, safety alerts, low car voltage alerts and more. The app also lets iRadar users control their music collection directly from within the app, and it automatically logs the location of the user's parked car and displays the location on a map. The iRadar Community currently consists of nearly one million users with more than 40,000 user-generated reports daily, making it the largest and most active detection community in the world.

"Today we are delighted to be delivering on the promise of continually improving our iRadar product family while bringing powerful smart detection and innovative safety features to our customers," said Sally Washlow, president of Cobra Electronics. "We have worked incredibly hard to develop our highest-performance detection system to-date, while managing to put all that performance into the most compact form factor on the market."
