Agder Breiband Deploys Infinera Digital Optical Network in Norway
SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/14/13 -- Infinera (NASDAQ:
INFN), a leading provider of Digital Optical Networks, announced
today the expansion into the Nordic region with cable operator Agder
Breiband (Agder). Agder selected the Infinera DTN and ATN platforms
for the flexibility, scalability and simplicity of Infinera's Digital
Optical Network solutions.
Agder, a leading broadband service provider in the south of Norway,
offers customers high speed Broadband Internet, IPTV and VoIP
services. Agder offers services via their partner Altibox.
Agder is deploying the Infinera DTN and ATN platforms in its regional
backbone to provide high capacity transport for the voice, video and
data services they deliver to their customers. The platforms share
the common Infinera Management Suite (IMS) and work together
seamlessly, making it simple to deploy new capacity quickly and
flexibly. By deploying the DTN and ATN platforms, Agder can offer
broadband services rapidly to customers.
"We selected Infinera for our network based on the flexibility of
their solutions, ease of use and the ability to provide us with a
simplified end-to-end solution for our network," said Terje Abusland,
Technical Manager at Agder. "At Agder, we have a small team and it's
critical for us to deploy with solutions that are cost effective for
our business. Infinera's solutions were easy to install and our team
was able to deploy the network in 7 days."
"We are pleased to announce Agder Breiband as our first customer in
Norway," said Chris Champion, vice president of EMEA sales. "We
continue to see traction across the globe with our solutions,
providing customers like Agder with platforms that enable them to be
successful in the markets they serve."
Agder's deployment of Infinera's DTN and ATN platforms provides them
with a network that is easy to operate. The Infinera DTN platform,
powered by 100 Gb/s photonic integrated circuits (PICs), is designed
to scale up to 6.4 Tb/s of transmission capacity per fiber. The
Infinera ATN, a scalable WDM transport platform with multi-service
aggregation, brings the intelligence of the Infinera Digital Optical
Network to the metro edge.
Infinera specializes in Digital Optical Networking
systems that are designed to continually improve the economics of
optical networking by combining the speed of optics with the
simplicity of digital. Infinera is unique in its use of breakthrough
semiconductor technology: Large Scale Photonic Integrated Circuit
(PIC). Infinera's platforms leverage PIC technology to provide
customers with a service-ready architecture that enables faster
