Argentina's Telefonica de Argentina and Thailand's Pruksa Real Estate Public
Company Limited-QCI Team were awarded silver at ASQ's International Team
Excellence Awards on May 8, 2013 at the ASQ World Conference on Quality and
Improvement in Indianapolis, Ind., USA.
MILWAUKEE, Wis., May 9, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - Argentina's
Telefonica de Argentina and Thailand's Pruksa Real Estate Public Company
Limited-QCI Team were awarded silver-level status on Wednesday as part of the
ASQ International Team Excellence Awards for increasing quality and financial
ASQ announced the silver-award winners -- in addition to three companies that
reached bronze-level status -- at its World Conference on Quality and
Improvement at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Ind. In its 28th
year, 32 teams from 10 countries competed for gold, silver and bronze status.
Gold, silver and bronze awards are awarded to teams that achieve minimum
scores in each awards level. Teams are judged in part in Quality Impact
Sessions at ASQ's World Conference on Quality and Improvement, at which teams
demonstrate real-life applications of quality.
No teams in this year's awards process earned gold-level status.
Telefonica de Argentina's Connected on Time team, based in Buenos Aires, used
Lean Six Sigma to achieve annual savings of $425,000 USD, reduce installation
times from 78 days to 44, and improve the image of the company.
"It's an honor for us to be recognized," said Daniel Remondegui, champion of
the Connected on Time project. "We have been using quality for many years to
improve many aspects of the organization."
Pruksa Real Estate Public Company Limited's QCI Team used Lean Six Sigma to
reduce by 80 percent residential construction quality issues, providing
potential savings of $4.6 million by reducing rework.

Teams that reached bronze-level status included:
-- Continental Guadalajara, of Tlajomulco de Zuñiga, Jalisco, Mexico --
Continental Guadalajara's Commercial Vehicles Continuous Improvement Team
solved a commercial vehicle gauge issue that has resulted in annual savings of
more than $400,000 in increased inventory output.
-- Oshkosh Defense, of Oshkosh, Wis., USA -- Oshkosh Defense's Logistics
Vehicle System Replacement, or LVSR, Leak Reduction Team used problem solving
to address multiple root causes to identify tightening standards on hoses and
fittings that were causing oil leaks on vehicles.
-- Pruksa Real Estate Public Company Limited, of Bangkok, Thailand -- Pruksa's
Valuable Engineer Team used Lean Six Sigma tools to improve house delivery
time from 329 days to 148 days, providing potential cost savings of nearly $1
million USD per year.
Since 1985, more than 1,050 teams from Argentina, Canada, China, Colombia,
Germany, India, United Arab Emirates, the United States and more have
participated in this team recognition process -- the only one of its kind in
the United States. Organizations such as 3M; Alcoa; Bayer; Boeing; Humana;
Reliance Industries Ltd., the largest business enterprise in India; and
Telefonica, a major cell phone operator in Argentina, have all showcased
proven results with long-term implications, resulting in cost savings of
millions of dollars.
Next year's International Team Excellence Award Process Final Round will be
held at ASQ's 2014 World Conference on Quality and Improvement May 5–7, 2014,
in Dallas, Texas. Intent to submit forms for the 2013-14 award cycle are due
July 1 and entry materials are due Sept. 9.
