MLOVEConFestival USA 2013

Business Wire

MONTEREY, Calif. -- May 2, 2013

MLOVEConFestival USA gathered a passionate group of mobile insiders – from
app developers and enterprises to NGO foundations.

MLOVE ConFestival featured inspiring speakers and topics from Internet of
Things, wearables, connected cars, brands & mobility, maker movement and
transmedia.

The inspiring event thrives on open innovation and intense networking.
Participants from across the US, Canada, and Europe convened in Monterey, CA
to share optimism and opportunities about the future of Mobile.

Jerome Nadel, CMO of Rambus Inc., opened the MLOVE ConFestival with Rambus CTO
Dr. Martin Scott sharing new opportunities for invention in the Internet of
Things. “The MLOVE initiative and events are symbolic of the true spirit of
invention, bringing together the creativity, drive, and expertise of both
entrepreneurial start-ups and established market leaders in a dynamic, yet
intimate, environment. The result is a collective brilliance of thought
leaders and innovators, all centered on the single concept of mobility as a
catalyst for change and opportunity. Rambus is pleased to participate in and
be a sponsor of the MLOVE 2013 ConFestivals,” said Jerome Nadel about the
MLOVE event in Monterey.

Speakers & Themes

Other speakers represented Mercedes-Benz, AT&T, Edelmann, Samsung, Atmel, frog
design and Microsoft. A special highlight was the Bentley concept car on
display by QNX Software Systems. Together with a smart electric drive and a
smart car2go rideshare vehicle from Austin Texas, the automobiles sparked
discussions about mobility of the future and connected cars.

Exclusive for the MLOVE audience, Nanosatisfi made available one week of free
computing time as a result of a design-thinking workshop called “Future Cube”.
Their kickstarter-funded ArduSat satellite is powered by open source Arduino
hardware designed around an Atmel chip.

Speakers included Maurice Conti, Head of Innovation at Autodesk, and Brad
Templeton, consultant to the Google self-driving car – both faculty members of
Singularity University of Mountain View, CA.

Startup competition

The following startups presented at the startup competition and won prizes by
AT&T, Samsung, Nike and American Airlines through a partnership with Tech
Wildcatters:

  *Securepress ID, CEO Paul Johnson
  *Share2you, CEO Brett Bauer
  *Twyxt, co-founder Roman Weishäupl
  *StylePal, CEO Lona Alia Duncan

The judging was led by Gabriella Draney, founder of accelerator Tech
Wildcatters (Dallas) and joined by venture partners from NEA and Draper
Associates, the managing editor of Venture Beat, plus speakers from AT&T and
Samsung.

Soul

MLOVE has a special touch on bringing humanity and soul to its events and
growing tribe. At Monterey, touch software specialist Artrage presented artist
Bo Paweena, who drew exclusive live portraits of the speakers. Together with
videos of the talks, the portraits are made available at www.mlove.com.

Director and producer Steve Brown opened MLOVE USA with a sneak peak of the
Burning Man documentary "Spark" and discussed his journey from app developer
to film maker. He set the right course for the MLOVE ConFestival by revealing
a spirit of participation, activism and passion. “We do not have to wait until
Burning Man, we are at MLOVE now,” noted Urvi Bhandari, Global Innovation
Director of AT&T.

Participants

The MLOVE crowd was well balanced between Silicon Valley insiders and
inspiring personalities from Europe. It is a must for MLOVE to combine thought
leaders from various industries, continents, backgrounds, and cultures. This
is the perfect setting to generate cross-pollination of ideas, which benefit
every attendee - on a business or personal level.

“We are very proud about the second edition of MLOVE in the US and to continue
our success story so close to Silicon Valley and the hottest innovation hub
world wide. This would not have been possible without the dedication of our
MLOVE team and these amazing speakers. I am also very thankful for the ongoing
engagement of our sponsors and partners,” said Harald Neidhardt, MLOVE founder
& curator.

The next MLOVE ConFestival Europe near Berlin is opening June 19-21, 2013.
