Terramar Creates a Dining Mecca at The Headquarters with an Exceptional
Array of Restaurants, from Established Restaurateurs to Rising Stars
Cuisine for every palate with sumptuous indoor and al fresco dining at San
Diego’s premier seaside shopping, dining and entertainment destination opening

Terramar Retail Centers unveiled today its widely-anticipated collection of
top restaurants for The Headquarters – Pizzeria Mozza, The Cheesecake Factory,
Puesto, Eddie V’s, and Seasons 52. The Headquarters is a $40 million adaptive
re-use and renovation of the Old Police Headquarters building into an
approximately 100,000-square-foot retail, dining and entertainment destination
currently under construction in the Seaport District of San Diego.
“Great food is at the core of great destinations. Our team was creative and
selective in attracting the right blend of dining for The Headquarters,” said
Steve Bowers, CEO of Terramar Retail Centers. “This collection creates a
casually sophisticated destination for San Diego residents and visitors.”
*Pizzeria Mozza is on every foodie’s list. The Headquarters is the only San
Diego location for this highly acclaimed restaurant from top chefs Mario
Batali, Joseph Bastianich and Nancy Silverton. Pizzeria Mozza, first
launched in Hollywood, is widely praised for its creative, authentic
Italian menu featuring artisanal pizzas, pastas and salads and a carefully
crafted wine list. At The Headquarters, Pizzeria Mozza’s 4,350-square-foot
restaurant has an upbeat, energetic atmosphere with its open kitchen, wine
bar, indoor dining room and central dining patio. There are also two
private dining rooms – one upstairs in the former Police Chief’s office
(34 guests) and a more intimate room for 11 guests downstairs. In
addition, the chefs are bringing their new Mozza2Go concept to The
Headquarters, currently only available in Los Angeles, so residents can
enjoy the cuisine of Pizzeria Mozza at an outdoor concert or private
picnic on the scenic shores of the Seaport District.
*The Cheesecake Factory, known for its upscale casual dining, fresh bakery,
generous portions and legendary cheesecake is a perennial favorite across
America and internationally. Its 10,400-square-foot restaurant will
feature its signature décor that is as creative and imaginative as its
*Puesto is a La Jolla locals favorite known for its refined flavors of
Mexican street food with an emphasis on fresh, sustainably grown, all
natural and organic ingredients. It is opening its second location and
first full-service restaurant in 4,500 square feet at The Headquarters to
bring exceptional service as well as gourmet Mexican dishes to San Diego.
Puesto will also offer an innovative cocktail menu with an exotic
selection of hand crafted creations from Mexico’s best flavors, including
two new drinks only at The Headquarters: the El Pueblito – a rustic but
refined take on an old fashioned with smoky mescal, muddle Luxardo cherry,
orange, demerara sugar, bitters and orange flower water; and Espina – rose
petal infused tequila, nopales, habanero and fresh lime. The restaurant
will combine its traditional taco line, a full service bar and living room
along with a beautiful dining room all designed by Thomas Schoos, the
creative genius behind the décor of Tao’s Las Vegas.
*Eddie V’s offers premium aged steaks and fresh seafood in a comfortable,
elegant and historic setting reminiscent of the glamorous dining of old
Hollywood. The open-design, two-level,7,500-square-foot restaurant will
also feature a two-level wine tower, the V Lounge with live jazz, classic
cocktails and assorted appetizers. Located in the former courthouse
section of the building, there are two private dining rooms upstairs.
*Seasons 52 is a fresh grill restaurant offering an upscale healthy
lifestyle cuisine – no dish contains over 475 calories – with an extensive
menu that includes chicken, seafood and steaks. The restaurant features a
vast assortment of wines as well as cocktails created with a culinary
approach that combines fresh ingredients with high-quality spirits. The
9,900-square-foot restaurant is designed as a warm and inviting yet light
and modern space with ample quiet seating, a large bar area and patio.
Located at 789 West Harbor Drive, adjacent to Seaport Village, within walking
distance of the San Diego Convention Center and numerous waterfront hotels as
well as downtown businesses and high-rise residences, The Headquarters is a
convenient and attractive destination for visitors and residents.
The Old Police Headquarters building opened in 1939. Terramar is working
closely with each restaurant to incorporate its signature look, signage and
storefront into the historic buildings at The Headquarters. “The integration
of the historic structures with the modern uses is transforming the property
while maintaining its integrity and character,” noted Bowers.
The Headquarters is comprised of four existing buildings, set around an
interior courtyard. Upon completion it will offer up to 30 shops and
restaurants that will bring a new level of quality retail and dining to this
dynamic downtown bay area property. The project is a key component of the
Port’s vision for the future of San Diego’s waterfront.
“Our leasing team is currently assembling an equally engaging mix of shops and
boutiques for The Headquarters,” noted Bowers.
The Headquarters’ main courtyard will feature fountains and colorful
landscaping creating an attractive setting for al fresco dining and a natural
environment to program a variety of outdoor entertainment. Appealing plazas
and meandering walkways will entice visitors to stroll, linger and relax,
enjoying the seaside setting with its sunshine and breezes. The Headquarters
will also offer guests a premier level of service with an accomplished
full-time concierge staff and valet parking.
