Local Business Enterasys Networks Helps to Stop Diabetes at the Annual North
Shore Tour de Cure
SALEM, N.H., April 22, 2013
SALEM, N.H., April 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --Enterasys Networks, a Siemens
Enterprise Communications Company based in Salem, NH, will be supporting The
American Diabetes Association's movement to Stop Diabetes® by having a team in
the annual Tour de Cure^®. This cycling event is happening on Sunday, May 19,
2013 at the Topsfield Fairgrounds in Topsfield, MA to help raise funds to
change the future of diabetes and stop this devastating disease.
Enterasys, a leading provider of networking solutions, is a company that loves
to support the community. Team captain, Joel Parker, has been riding in the
Tour de Cure since 2008 and this year the company has gotten involved as well.
Enterasys has a charity committee that works closely with many charities in
order to help out the community. "Enterasys employees are so giving," said
Christine Mousseau, an executive assistant and Charity Committee Chair at
Enterasys. "We wouldn't be able to do anything without them."
Some of the ways in which Enterasys employees contribute to the community
include holding bake sales, raffles, buying and preparing food for the
homeless, as well as creating a team for the Tour de Cure. Parker and Mousseau
started promoting the team in early February and soon Parker had a co-captain,
Kevin Gray. Together they sent out postings and shared them within the company
to build awareness and support. Not long after, the design department got
involved and helped create posters to be hung around the building. The company
now has close to 30 riders participating in the Tour de Cure.
"We have people from every department in the company riding with us in the
Tour de Cure," says Parker. "We have people who don't even own bikes buying a
bike for the ride. There are people who've never done fundraising before but
we've put together a lot of fundraisers to put money into a bank so if people
can't make the minimum, we can help so they can ride."
"One of the things we've learned is that every time we do a charity event our
employees can relate to it because it comes close to home," says Mousseau,
whose parents are both living with diabetes. "Fundraising can be a little
intimidating, but if you ask what's the worst that can happen?"
One rider, Paul Green, loves having the company's support in the ride. "Team
Enterasys is so much more than the riders. This is about company culture." The
company provides a great culture and a fun place to work, complete with
barbeques and Halloween events.
Tour de Cure is designed for anyone from the occasional to the experienced
cyclist with routes from the 15-mile family ride to 100-mile Gran Fondo, a
century ride. The routes all feature rest stops with food to fuel the journey
and volunteers to cheer riders on.
The Tour de Cure raises funds for the 26 million Americans living with
diabetes through registration fees and pledges collected by the cyclists. To
register, cyclists or volunteers can call the American Diabetes Association at
617-482-4580 ext. 3487 or visit us at www.diabetes.org/nsmedia.
