Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO:6502) today announced that it has established a
wholly owned subsidiary in Thailand that will be responsible for enhancing
Toshiba Group's presence and capabilities across comprehensive range of social
infrastructure businesses in Southeast Asia. The company, Toshiba Asia Pacific
(Thailand) Co., Ltd. will promote operation in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia's
social infrastructure sectors and promote Toshiba's participation in major
industrial projects. Toshiba Asia Pacific Thailand starts operation today.

Spurred by economic and population growth and modernization, the social
infrastructure business in Southeast Asia, especially the Mekong economic
region, is expected to expand significantly in coming years. Governments in
the region are expected to channel over US$ 1.6 trillion into infrastructure

community projects. High economic growth rates, dynamic population growth and
demand for systems and equipment are expected to spur continuous growth in the
social infrastructure sector.

center for promoting the wide range of Toshiba's social infrastructure
business" commented Mr. Hiroyuki Sawada, the President of Toshiba Asia Pacific
Thailand. "By being close to the region, we are positioned meet fast growing
