NEC Announces NeoFace® Facial Recognition Technology Product Suite Leading global provider of multi-modal biometrics identification systems launches four new products ISC WEST 2013 Booth #4145 Business Wire IRVING, Texas -- April 8, 2013 NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a leading provider and integrator of advanced IT, communication, and biometrics solutions, today announced a new integrated facial recognition product suite. At its core the NEC NeoFace® Product Suite uses advanced facial processing and matching algorithms that have achieved high rankings in independent third-party testing indicating superior performance of NEC NeoFace technology in dealing with real-world, highly compressed images. NEC NeoFace image-matching algorithms achieved the highest ranking in 2010 accuracy tests conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)^1. NEC is the market leader in multi-modal biometric identification systems with more than 200 deployments in more than 30 countries. The NeoFace facial recognition suite represents the next technical evolution and expansion of NEC’s identity-matching capabilities. NEC’s latest advances in technology have established facial recognition as an effective and non-intrusive tool for identification. Large facial databases are searched quickly and accurately as independent testing confirmed that NeoFace technology is the most resistant to variants in age, race and pose angle. NEC’s NeoFace facial recognition product suite includes the following solutions: *NeoFace® Reveal – Dedicated for forensic application, NeoFace Reveal is a software application dedicated to solving crimes using facial recognition technology. NeoFace Reveal allows for capture of “latent face,” either from photographs or crime scene videos. Latent faces are collected, enhanced and encoded for search against a facial gallery and through user-friendly applications are available for side-by-side viewing and verification. NeoFace Reveal is available as either a standalone solution or integrated with the NEC biometric identification system. *NeoFace® Watch – Designed for operational security users, NeoFace Watch integrates with existing video surveillance systems enhancing security by extracting faces in real time from surveillance or even web cameras and instantaneously matching them against a watchlist of individuals. Multiple alert options are available within NeoFace Watch. *NeoFace® Smart ID – Intended for field operations, NeoFace Smart ID is a smart phone and tablet-based solution that enables collection and identification of fingerprint, face, voice, demographic and other source data. NeoFace Smart ID can also be configured for submittal to a central database or with a local facial watch list allowing for on-the-spot identification prior to remote database search. *NeoFace® Match – Available to third-party system integrators as an “appliance” for integration in facial recognition solutions or existing identification systems, NeoFace Match includes NEC’s core facial recognition capabilities such as image processing, face detection, quality assessment, template encoding and matching. “NEC’s new NeoFace Product Suite is rooted in the most advanced and accurate facial matching technology available,” said Raffie Beroukhim, vice president of NEC’s Biometrics Solutions Division. “Complementary and interrelated, this new product suite provides four distinct solutions targeted at specific users. Addressing forensic, security, in the field and appliance requirements, our new product suite supports the needs of our clients seeking optimal performance, accuracy and reliability in their identification systems. Extraordinary tolerance for poor quality images (as low as 2,000 bytes and inter-eye distance of as low as 24 pixels) from highly compressed surveillance videos or photographs results in higher rates of positive identification and unparalleled accuracy.” As key markets turn to facial recognition technology for operational efficiency and improved services, NEC’s NeoFace Product Suite will address these requirements as well. Examples of this type of adoption include driver’s license issuance, international borders, airports, company security systems, amusement parks and the retail market. NEC will be exhibiting at the ISC West Expo in Las Vegas, April 9-12, 2013. Come see us in Booth #4145.
