Digital Content into Hands of Each Student
AUSTIN, Texas -- April 08, 2013
Compass Learning®, the company that unlocks every student’s potential for
academic achievement and personal growth by personalizing learning, today
announced that its award-winning educational software, CompassLearning
Odyssey®, is available for Google Chromebooks and other tablets and devices
running the Chrome browser.
“Combining engaging digital content, like CompassLearning Odyssey, with the
Chromebook provides our students with access to personalized learning
opportunities that did not exist a few short years ago,” said Jacob Givand,
online learning facilitator with Robbinsdale Area Schools in New Hope, MN.
“Technology is an important element to inspire and engage all learners.
Technology also empowers teachers to manage both the classroom and the needs
of individual students. With the combination of Chromebooks and
CompassLearning Odyssey, we are realizing the vision of one-to-one computing;
we are raising the level of learning and achievement in our district.”
Using CompassLearning Odyssey on a Chromebook provides students with anytime
access to lessons and activities personalized to their strengths and
proficiency level. Built-in Odyssey assessments let teachers efficiently and
effectively monitor student achievement and needs in order to adjust the
learning environment accordingly.
Chromebooks are optimized for the Web’s vast educational resources. Educators
can integrate rich content into lessons, inspire collaboration, and encourage
students to create and share their own content with the world. Chromebooks
deliver a rich experience that is easy to use with fast start-up times; they
provide a simple, scalable, and affordable way to put technology into the
hands of more students and teachers.
“By simplifying technology and providing teachers greater access to
information on student achievement through Odyssey, we are giving teachers
more time to focus on what they do best – help students learn,” explained
Chromebooks are rapidly being adopted in the K–12 education sector due in part
to lower IT costs, the reduced time it takes to administer and deploy changes
across classrooms, and the security advantages of Google’s Chrome OS.
Support for Chrome browser and Chromebooks is part of Compass Learning’s
commitment to provide rigorous and engaging digital content and curriculum to
districts and classrooms across the country as schools transition to learning
environments in which laptops, tablets, smart phones, and other mobile devices
play a central role in education. The support can also make it easier for
districts to embrace the technology infrastructure of the Common Core State
“Today’s students are more mobile and connected than ever before, and they
demand that their educational tools and systems support that way of life,”
added Eric Loeffel, CEO of Compass Learning. “We are excited to support
students, teachers, and administrators who have chosen Chromebooks by adding
to the foundation of technology and access that Google is creating. Together
with our customers we are building a platform for education that empowers
teachers to better manage the classroom, gives teachers more time to fulfill
their aspirations as teachers, and at the same time makes learning more
exciting and personal for every student.”
CompassLearning Odyssey offers full student, teacher, and administrator
support for customers using the Google Chromebook and other devices running
the Chrome browser. Compass Learning will continue to work in close
partnership with device vendors and district customers to deliver
award-winning digital content to students, teachers, and school districts
around the country across multiple platforms and devices.
