Werner Enterprises' President and COO Honored at ICAN Women's Leadership
OMAHA, Neb. -- April 3, 2013
Werner Enterprises’ (NASDAQ: WERN) President and COO Derek Leathers was
recently awarded the Tim Rouse Advocate for Women in Leadership Award at the
annual ICAN Women’s Leadership Conference in Omaha, Nebraska.
“It is truly an honor to be nominated by such a prestigious organization,”
stated Leathers. “Women play a vital role in leadership at Werner and we are
proud that it is part of our Company culture to recognize and utilize the
talents, education and dedication of our female leaders.”
Leathers joined Werner in 1999 and has held key roles in many facets of the
organization, including the establishment of Werner’s Mexico operations,
oversight of all asset operating groups as well as the launch of Werner Global
Logistics, which encompasses transportation management and freight movement
within Intermodal, Ocean, Air and Brokerage. More recently, Leathers
championed the formation of a team tasked specifically with researching and
developing action plans to attract, recruit, and retain talented women in the
ICAN is a global non-profit professional advancement organization. Over its 32
year history, the organization has helped advance the careers of many
individuals now working in the top executive ranks of Fortune 1000 companies.
The ICAN Women’s Leadership Conference is celebrating its 20-year anniversary
and has grown to be one of the largest with participants traveling from across
the U.S. and Canada. The Tim Rouse Award, created in 2005, honors male leaders
who embody and support the advancement of women.
