TIM Brasil selects Nokia Siemens Networks to build 4G LTE network
Vendor’s Single RAN to help operator deliver ultra-fast mobile broadband
services for upcoming Football Cup events
Customers of TIM Brasil will soon enjoy super-fast 4G LTE

services. The operator has selected Nokia Siemens Networks to deploy an LTE
network layer on top of the operator’s existing 2G and 3G networks in the 2.6
GHz frequency band.

was a natural decision to deploy an LTE network with the same vendor,” said

ultra-fast 4G mobile broadband services to satisfy our customers.”

Under the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will deliver an LTE radio access
network featuring its award-winning and high-capacity Flexi Multiradio Base
Stations. The Flexi Multiradio Base Station is a Single RAN (radio access
network) base station for GSM, 3G, FDD-LTE and TD-LTE. It provides an easy and
cost-effective site upgrade to LTE and uses common OSS for multiple
technologies. By using the Single RAN Flexi Multiradio Base Station, TIM Brasil
can upgrade its site to 2.6 GHz LTE while saving time, space and power
consumption – all translating to lower capital costs for the operator.
Nokia Siemens Networks will also upgrade TIM Brasil’s NetAct
ms/netact) network management system to enable consolidated and effective
monitoring, management and optimization of its network. In addition, the
company will deliver its Intelligent Self Organizing Networks (iSON)*

increased automation and faster rollout.
Nokia Siemens Networks’ complete network life-cycle services will help TIM
Brasil move smoothly toward LTE and minimize technical and commercial risks.
The high-quality network deployment will be coupled with world-class project
management, network optimization as well as feature introduction and
maintenance services. By taking advantage of Nokia Siemens Networks’
comprehensive and customized training solutions, TIM Brasil’s engineers will
attain sound LTE competencies and capabilities.
Implementation of the LTE network will be done on a city-by-city basis in
preparation for the Confederations Cup 2013 and Football World Cup 2014 events.
