Startup PR Veteran to Accelerate Growth of Agency's Emerging
Technologies Practice

proud to announce the addition of Karl Scholz as Vice President.
Bringing eighteen years of consumer and B2B communications experience
to SHIFT, Karl will initially be tasked with growing the emerging
technologies practice in the Boston office.

Karl began his career at Sterling Hager, where he worked with SHIFT
CEO Todd Defren. Before joining SHIFT, Karl was president of
Formative Communications (formerly, Virtual PR Director), a boutique
PR firm he co-founded with Heidi Johnson in Austin, Texas to serve
the unique needs of technology startups. While at Formative, he
worked with over 50 disruptors, helping them achieve their goals of
growth and acquisition. Karl has also organized a number of
influencer events at top industry conferences, including SXSW and
DEMO. His diverse background will help accelerate the strategic build
out of SHIFT's newest emerging technologies team.

Before starting his own company, Karl directed PR and marketing
communications for Works, a venture-backed company acquired by Bank
of America. He also helped establish the Austin office for Lois Paul
& Partners, where he represented IBM's Tivoli Systems and Lotus
Development Corp.
