One of the greatest women’s distance runners of all time, Kastor is no
stranger to fierce competition. She currently holds American records in the
marathon, half-marathon, and numerous road distances. Placing in the top third
in the ASICS LA Marathon is another exciting feat for the accomplished
athlete.

Kastor has never been shy of success in her career. Adding the ASICS LA
marathon finish to her long list of accolades, she is also well-known for
victory in the 2006 London Marathon where she became one of the fastest female
marathoner ever. She also won a bronze medal in the women’s marathon at the
2004 Olympics, becoming the second American in Olympic history to medal in the
event.

“I’m thrilled with my performance at the ASICS LA Marathon. It was such a rush
competing in one of the best cities in the world, with some of the most
talented runners in the world,” commented Deena Kastor of her performance on
Sunday. “I’m thankful for the support of my friends and family, as well as my
sponsors – such as ASICS – who have been there for me every step of the way.”

Kastor raced in the ASICS Gel-HyperSpeed® 5, a favorite of the American record
holder. This versatile shoe features a lightweight platform, breathable upper,
and a moisture drainage system, which makes it well suited for a range of
runners both on the road and around the track.

“ASICS congratulates Deena Kastor on her stellar LA Marathon performance, a
strong showing in her return to competition,” noted ASICS Athlete Manager,
Annie Adams. “As a brand, we are proud to sponsor such an exceptional athlete
and role model, and we look forward to cheering her on in her upcoming
competitions.”
