Country's Military Youth

Partnership to help address the unique needs of military youth as they face
the tough challenges of frequent relocation and parent deployment
ATLANTA, March 8, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Boys & Girls Clubs of
America (BGCA) announced today a three-year partnership with Fluor
Corporation, one of the world's largest engineering, construction and
maintenance service companies, to serve our country's military youth and
professionals on U.S. military installations. On average, military youth
relocate six to nine times between kindergarten and graduation. In addition to
facing the usual challenges associated with adolescence, military youth
encounter unique challenges associated with the frequent deployments of their
To respond to these challenges, Fluor will sponsor an annual Military Teen
Summit to give youth a forum for developing effective communication and
resiliency skills. This year's Summit, to be held in March, will bring
together a selected group of 65 military teens who will develop action plans
for encouraging other military youth at their Clubs and in their communities.
Fluor's support will also enable BGCA to offer specialized programs in
on-installation Clubs, and resiliency training to Club staff helping youth
develop skills to overcome unique hardships associated with military families.

significant resource to these families. Currently, BGCA serves almost 500,000
youth on U.S. military installations through membership and outreach, and
16,000 children of military personnel at 1,200 traditional Clubs.
