SANTA CLARA, Calif., February 26, 2013 - Applied Materials, Inc. (Nasdaq:AMAT)
announced today that Bob Halliday has been named senior vice president and
chief financial officer. Halliday previously was executive vice president and
chief financial officer of Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates prior to
Applied's acquisition of the company in November 2011.

business administration and bachelor of science degrees from the Wharton
School of the University of Pennsylvania and has been a Certified Public
