CALPERS SAYS IT CONTINUES TO SUPPORT APPLE IN ITS EFFORTS
(The following is a reformatted version of a statement issued by the California Public Employees’ Retirement System and received via electronic mail. The release was confirmed by the sender.)
The US District Court, Southern District of New York, has granted Greenlight’s petition to separate the elements of Proposal No. 2. The shareholder meeting may proceed but without the proposal.
The following statement can be attributed to Anne Simpson, CalPERS Senior Portfolio Manager and Director of Global Governance:
“We continue to support Apple in their efforts, and believe that the implementation of majority voting and shareholder approval for the issuance of new stock - preferred or otherwise - is worth waiting for. We encourage Apple to reintroduce these measures as soon as is practical so that all investors can be heard. We applaud the company’s commitment to strengthening shareholder rights.”
