Media Advisory— Business Innovation Summit 2013: Innovation for the Corporation
TORONTO, Feb. 14, 2013 /CNW/ - The Conference Board of Canada will unveil new research of the first-ever national survey on firm-level innovation at the Business Innovation Summit 2013: Innovation for the Corporation.
Based on the responses of 1,000 Canadian firms, the Innovation Metrics for Management 2012 survey reveals how firms are managing the marketing of their products/services and changing their organizational culture and dynamics.
In addition to survey results, the Conference Board will present new research on innovation and commercialization skills, and financing of business innovation.
When: Tuesday, February 19(th) and Wednesday, February 20(th), 2013.
Who: It's Time for Innovation in the Corporation
Daniel Muzyka, President and CEO of The Conference Board of Canada, will argue that Canada
does not suffer from an innovation gap, but from a commercialization gap. He will outline
the Conference Board's
Centre for Business Innovation
and its five-year mandate and objectives.

Michael Bloom, Vice-President of Organizational Effectiveness and Learning The Conference
Board of Canada, will present highlights of the Innovation Metrics for Management 2012
survey.

It's People Who Innovate!—The Skills That Contribute to Innovation and
Commercialization.
Daniel Munro, Principal Research Associate, and Douglas Watt, Director Organizational
Effectiveness and Learning Research, The Conference Board of Canada, will unveil the
updated Innovation Skills Profile 2.0 and the new Commercialization Skills Profile. These
tools will help employees and managers, students and educators identify and develop the
skills needed to create and commercialize new and improved products, processes and
services.

Michael Grant, Director of Research, Capital Markets, Centre for Business Innovation will
chair a session that explores the paradox between Canada's sophisticated capital markets
and the funding of innovative activity,

Managing Innovation for Tangible Performance
Sorin Cohn, Leader of Innovation Metrics for The Conference Board of Canada, will present
more detailed findings from the Innovation Metrics for Management 2012 survey. His
presentation will answer the questions:

-- What are the major obstacles to funding innovation?
-- How many metrics do they use to measure their innovation efforts?
