PR Newswire

MORRISTOWN, N.J., Feb. 7, 2013

Additional FirstEnergy Crews Arriving Tonight

Morristown, N.J. – Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) President Don Lynch
will speak to the media in Dover, New Jersey, Friday, February 8, at 10 a.m.
to discuss the company's preparations for the nor'easter.

Up to a foot of wet, heavy snow and high winds are expected to hit parts of
JCP&L's northern New Jersey service territory tomorrow and Saturday. In some
locations, up to 15 inches of snow is expected.

The event will be held at:

JCP&L Dover Line Shop
13 Richboynton Road
Dover, N.J.
Morris County

All available JCP&L crews and support personnel will work around-the-clock, as
needed, to restore service if customers are affected by the severe weather.
They will be assisted by more than 100 crews and additional support personnel
from FirstEnergy's Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company and Toledo Edison
utilities. The additional crews are expected to arrive in New Jersey this
evening.

The FirstEnergy crews include both hazard and line crews, which serve two
separate functions. Hazard crews are assigned to make areas safe during hazard
conditions, such as securing downed wires. Line crews make repairs that
restore service. Tree crews also will be available for storm restoration work.

The additional FirstEnergy crews are being dispatched to JCP&L line shops in
Dover in Morris County and Newton in Sussex County, where the snow is
predicted to be the most severe.

Lynch will be prepared to discuss other JCP&L preparations for the nor'easter,
which include:

oSecuring additional tree contractors to assist with the outage restoration
    process
oCommunicating with emergency management officials, state officials,
regulators and local officials about our storm preparation efforts
