Louis Vachon is named Finance et Investissement's "2012 Financial Personality 
of the Year" 
MONTREAL, Feb. 6, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Finance et Investissement has named 
Louis Vachon, President and Chief Executive Officer of National Bank of 
Canada, as "2012 Financial Personality of the Year". He ranked first in the 
2012 list of the Top25 personalities in the financial industry in Québec. 
The awards jury acknowledges Louis Vachon's contribution to the economic 
development of Québec. In 2012, Vachon played a key role in the acquisition, 
by Maple Group, of TMX Group, which operates the Montreal and Toronto stock 
exchanges. National Bank is part of the acquiring entity that comprises a 
total of 12 Canadian financial institutions and pension funds. 
In addition, National Bank doubled its net profits between the 2008 and 2012 
fiscal years. In fact, the institution's sales reached a record level last 
year. 
The son of an entrepreneur from the Beauce region, Vachon intends to bring the 
issue of entrepreneurial succession to the forefront. In the February issue of 
Finance et Investissement, Vachon states: "We have estimated that 40% of our 
commercial clients will transfer ownership of their company within the next 
ten years". 
Second and third places are occupied by Monique F. Leroux, President and Chief 
Executive Officer of Desjardins Group, and by Jean-Guy Desjardins, Chairman of 
the Board, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Investment Officer of Fiera 
Capital, respectively. 
A representative of the new generation of leaders in the Québec financial 
industry, François Desjardins, President and Chief Executive Officer of B2B 
Bank, took fourth position, while Luc Bertrand, Vice-Chairman of National Bank 
Financial Group and a member of the Board of Directors of TMX Group, ranked 
fifth.

The Top25 nominees were selected by a jury that comprises seven prominent 
individuals in the Québec financial industry: Bernard Dorval, Company 
Director; Danielle Ferron, Vice-President, Association des femmes en finance 
du Québec (AFFQ), and Partner, Lawyer at Langlois Kronström Desjardins; 
François Joly, Director and 2005 Financial Personality of the Year; Richard 
Joly, President of Leaders International; Christian Benoit-Lapointe, 
Editor-in-Chief, Finance et Investissement; Sylvain Bédard, Publisher, 
Finance et Investissement; and Jean-Paul Gagné, Publisher Emeritus, Les 
Affaires. 
A tribute to two advisors 
Finance et Investissement also acknowledged the outstanding work and 
commitment of two advisors who are active in the Québec financial industry. 
Charline Gilbert, Portfolio Manager with Groupe Bouchard Gilbert, received the 
Advisor Emeritus Award, crowning a career in the financial services industry 
that has spanned nearly three decades. A Ph.D. in Finance, Gilbert provides 
private management services for a clientele that is dispersed throughout 
Québec, France and the United States. A committed businesswoman, she also 
serves as Chairman of the Board for the Fondation de l'Université Laval. 
François Langlois, Investment Advisor at Manulife Investments, received the 
Advisor Most Involved In His Community Award. In recent years, Langlois, who 
is passionate about mountain climbing, has conquered the highest peaks on each 
of the seven continents, raising close to $5 million, to the benefit of 
charities for sick children. 
The awards were presented during the 2012 Financial Personality of the Year 
evening, which was held at the Club Saint-James in Montreal on Feb. 5, 2013.
