A survey of 213 Utility and Smart Grid professionals has revealed that the
least secure of an electricity grid's components were the end user segment and
the distribution system; and only four percent of the sample said that U.S.
electricity grids were "very secure". Only recently, a hacker demonstrated how
to intercept smart grid radio communications in front of an audience of 60
security researchers: "If you can understand the way these systems speak to
one another, the potential to hack them is very real". Further highlighting
