The Indian banking industry is growing more than 23% per year with its assets
size poised to touch $28,500 billion by 2025 (1). However, In India,
dispersion of banking services is fairly low: about 61 percent of population
has access to a saving bank account, 19 percent has debit cards and 1 percent
has credit cards (2).

To tap into this growing market opportunity and reach the tech-savvy younger
generation, DNS Bank needed to revamp the heart of its IT infrastructure.
Working with Business Partner Brisk Infovision, IBM provided a solution built
on PureFlex and including System x, storage and WebSphere. DNS Bank is already
benefitting from the simplicity and control IBM PureFlex provides and has
reduced power consumption by 10 percent.

"For DNS Bank, IBM provided the perfect platform to expand our mobile services
such as Internet, mobile and SMS banking," said Milind Varerkar, Head IT, DNS
Bank. "PureFlex provides the security, flexibility and integration
capabilities we needed to leverage cloud technologies to rapidly and
efficiently deliver these mobile services across cities and remote areas of
Maharashtra, address completely new client segments and even allowed us to
reduce power consumption by ten percent."

Headquartered in Dombivli, a suburb of Mumbai, Maharashtra, the richest and
fastest developing state in India, DNS Bank operates more than Rs 3750 crores
(US$ 695 million) of business in its 37 branches spread across 11 districts.
Established in 1970, today the bank serves more than 500,000 clients.

"Working with DNS Bank required a holistic approach to IT infrastructure that
would match the bank's goal to provide a next generation of banking to its
clients," said Rahul Bindal, Country Leader, PureSystems, Systems and
Technology Group, IBM India South Asia. "IBM PureFlex allowed DNS to simplify
their experience, increase overall performance, and significantly reduce
operational and management costs."

The IBM PureSystems family offers clients an alternative to current enterprise
computing models, where multiple and disparate systems require significant
resources to set up and maintain. PureFlex System enables organizations to
more efficiently create and manage an infrastructure.

innovation. From resellers to distributors and Independent Software Vendors
