Mobile Learning Platform, Created by Student, Available for New BlackBerry 10
LONDON, January 30, 2013
LONDON, January 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
EducationApps Limited, the UK's leading provider of mobile study apps for
students, is releasing 13 educational apps for the new BlackBerry 10 device
which was launched today by Research in Motion. The apps will also be
available on BlackBerry devices running OS 6 or 7.
The apps make use of EducationApps' revolutionary mobile-centric learning
platform. The learning platform consists of three modules: School, Study and
Friends. The School module lets students receive assignments and messages from
any of their teachers on the platform. The Study module allows students to
browse, sample and purchase content, while the Friends module adds a social
and competitive element.
20-year-old CEO George Burgess runs EducationApps while studying as a
full-time student. "When I was studying for my exams there was nothing like
this available. We were stuck using boring textbooks and writing up notes," he
says. "Our new platform can be used by individual students or entire schools.
This flexibility, combined with social features and high-quality content,
makes it a much more engaging way for students to study."
The 13 apps (full list below) consist of content commissioned by EducationApps
and licensed from leading publishers like Oxford University Press. The apps
cover major qualifications for the US, UK and international markets.
Burgess says, "We've worked very closely with RIM and they have been extremely
supportive. The new BlackBerry 10 devices are beautiful and I am confident
they'll do well. With BlackBerry's dominant market share amongst UK teenagers,
it was obvious to me that our platform should be available on their devices
before any others."
