Männedorf, Switzerland, January 30, 2013 - The Tecan Group (SIX Swiss
Exchange: TECN) today announced that with the implementation of its growth
strategy there will also be some changes in the leadership team. Dr. David
Martyr, who became the new CEO of the Company in October 2012, is using the
opportunity to reorganize and strengthen the capabilities of the leadership

David Martyr said: "Tecan is a very strong brand in our industry and has an
excellent basis for future accelerated growth. With the expected start of the
commercial supply of instruments to our partners from two major OEM programs
within this year, we are preparing already for significant growth in the near
future. For the mid and long-term development of our business it is essential
that we have the right leadership team with extensive domain knowledge,
experience and capabilities. Through this renewal process of the management
team in various positions, I would like to take the opportunity to strengthen
the capabilities of the leadership team in a targeted manner."

In the context of this renewal process, Dr. Bernhard Grob, who has been Head
of the Partnering Business division and member of the Management Board since
January 2011, will be leaving the Company. The search for a successor is
Tecan's Board of Directors and CEO thank Bernhard Grob for his strong
engagement and the important service of developing Tecan's Partnering Business
and wish him all the best for the future.

The position of the Head of the Life Sciences division was already vacant at
the entry of David Martyr. The search for a successor is in a very advanced
state and an announcement of this position is expected in the near future. 

With the increased importance of business and academic partnerships, licensing
as well as potential mergers and acquisitions it is also necessary for the
Corporate Development department to be strengthened. The search for a Head of
Corporate Development is underway.
