Standard Parking Announces Combined Portfolio Contract Awards
CHICAGO, Jan. 29, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Standard Parking Corporation
(Nasdaq:STAN), the nation's leading provider of parking management, ground
transportation and other ancillary services, today announced various contract
awards received following the merger of Standard Parking and Central Parking
last October. The awards involve properties across the United States and
include awards to various SP Plus^® service lines and end markets, as well as
to the Company's Central Parking subsidiary.
SP Plus^® Office Services was awarded the management of the parking operations
at nine office buildings across the country for Piedmont Real Estate
Investment Trust. The properties include five office buildings in the
Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, two properties in the Midwest and two on
the West Coast. The Company commenced its management responsibilities at seven
of the properties on Jan. 1, and will begin operations at the additional two
properties Feb. 1. Included among the properties are Piedmont Pointe in
Bethesda, Md., US Bancorp Center in Minneapolis and the Aon Center in Chicago.
The City of Scranton awarded SP Plus^® Municipal Services a new on-street
meter collection and enforcement contract effective Jan. 1. The project
includes the financing and installation of Scranton's new on-street parking
meters as well as their ongoing maintenance and repair. SP Plus^® Municipal
Services also will handle collection, meter enforcement and issuance of
citations for the City's 1,095 on-street parking spaces.
SP Plus^® Municipal Services also was selected by the City of Oxford, Miss. to
provide on-street meter enforcement and citations for parking violations in
the downtown area. The enforcement efforts will be supported by License Plate
Recognition technology. In addition to ticket issuance, the Company will
manage citation collection processing and first-level adjudication. SP Plus^®
Municipal Services commenced its duties under the on-street contract on Oct.
Standard Parking recently expanded its services at the Horseshoe Casino,
Cleveland with 24/7 shuttle service. The Company, which also provides valet
and parking services to the property, began commuter shuttles between the
Casino's Prospect Avenue entrance and the Collection Auto Center Garage on
SP Plus^® Security Services was selected to become a single-source provider
for Solair ST Collections, a mixed-use retail and residential project in the
heart of Los Angeles' Koreatown. Under the contract, the Company will provide
security, light building maintenance and janitorial services to various
portions of the property. Standard Parking currently provides parking
management services at the project.
Central Parking was selected by Gates, Hudson & Associates, the largest asset
manager in the Ballston area of Arlington, Va., to manage the parking
operations at five of its Arlington locations, including the Westin Hotel. As
part of its services, Central Parking will integrate the parking operations
with its Focus Point remote management system to provide 24/7 customer service
across the Gates, Hudson portfolio of properties. Central Parking commenced
its duties under the management contract on Jan. 1.
Central Parking also was awarded a parking management contract for five
Paradise Properties in downtown Denver. The parking locations serve local
commuters and visitors to several downtown venues, including the Denver
Convention Center and several core office buildings. Central Parking began its
operations on Dec. 27.
Finally, Central Parking will begin valet service for The Manhattan at Times
Square Hotel beginning Feb. 1. This 659-room, high-profile property is owned
by Highgate Hotels, L.P., which owns or manages a diversified hotel portfolio
across the U.S., Caribbean, Canada and Europe.
