Legrand Receives Pre-Approval by the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) for the Ortronics Cabinet Line

Legrand Receives Pre-Approval by the Office of Statewide Health Planning and
Development (OSHPD) for the Ortronics Cabinet Line
NEW LONDON, CT -- (Marketwire) -- 01/24/13 -- Legrand, a leader in
high performance network infrastructure solutions, is pleased to
announce the Mighty Mo(R) stand alone enclosure has been pre-approved
by the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD)
for Preapproval of Anchorage (OPA).
The OSHPD pre-approval program is a voluntary process that
independently reviews and pre-approves equipment anchorage, to be
used in health facility construction projects in California.
Recognizing the value of the OSHPD strict safety standards,
Legrand(R) submitted its Ortronics(R) Mighty Mo cabinets.
"Pre-approval from OSHPD will expedite the installation and permit
process and eliminate the time and money that would be required to
review the cabinets during the project's OSHPD construction plan
review," states Dan Gosselin, cabinet product manager for Legrand
Data Communications. This approval allows the cabinet to be deployed
in health care facilities, schools and other mission critical
facilities in California and guarantees the end user that the cabinet
was designed in accordance to California Building Code (CBC) 2010.
OSHPD products are required to meet building codes that address the
area's seismic activity.
The OPA number is OPA-2507-10 and can be found on the state of
California's web site here.
OSHPD is a government agency in California empowered by the Alfred E.
Alquist Hospital Seismic Safety Act in 1973. Due to several hospital
collapses in the early 1970s, OSHPD was created to ensure uniformity
in health care facility construction standards. These standards have
been set so that patients remain safe, and hospitals remain
functional during, as well as following an earthquake. To ensure that
these standards are followed, OSHPD both reviews plans prior to
construction and inspects facilities following construction. Because
the review and inspection process can be both time and labor
intensive, the Facility Development Division of OSHPD has worked with
manufacturers to develop pre-approved systems, which simplify and
speed-up the construction review process.
