Mullen announced today that it was selected as the lead agency of record for
The Pep Boys – Manny, Moe & Jack, the nation’s leading automotive aftermarket
service and retail chain. Mullen’s office in North Carolina will handle
strategic and creative duties for the brand.

The agency selection was made after a competitive review. Terms of the
contract were not disclosed, and creative work is expected to hit the market
in the first half of 2013.

Pep Boys’ Chief Marketing Officer, Ron Stoupa, explained the agency selection.
“Mullen’s consumer insights and understanding of our brand and business model
led to the most compelling creative solutions. They understood our customer
service culture and contributed fresh ideas to help us achieve our future
growth goals. They will be a great marketing partner.”

John Fitzgerald, president of Mullen’s North Carolina office, said, “Pep Boys
has a rich brand heritage and a business model that is unmatched in its
category. We’re thrilled to be its brand- and business-building advocate
during this time of transformation and growth. We’re looking forward to
introducing the brand to new customers and educating existing customers about
how the brand is evolving to meet their needs.”

“Shortly after the first Model T’s started rolling off the production line,
Pep Boys quickly became the guys to see when your car needed work. It’s an
amazing history of quality customer service and innovation that is very much
alive and well today,” said Jason Black, Mullen Executive Creative Director.
“We’re extremely excited to partner with Pep Boys and help bring the brand to
life in engaging and relevant ways that reflect the relationship people have
with their cars today.”
