The 13th Annual Delhi Sustainable Development Summit, Slated to be Held From
January 31-February 02, 2013 in New Delhi, Will Explore the Diverse Dimensions
of Promoting Resource-efficient Development and Attempt to Strengthen the
Global Momentum for Green Growth as Raised at the Rio+20 Conference.

Playing host to a plethora of illustrious speakers, the DSDS 2013 will bring
together the top leaders of three Development Banks - Mr. Haruhiko Kuroda ,
President of the Asian Development Bank; Mr. Donald Kaberuka , President of
the African Development Bank; and Mr. Walter Vergara , Chief, Climate Change
and Sustainability Division, Inter-American Development Bank, on a common

The presence of the top leaders of the development bank heads at DSDS 2013
assumes significance since the role of the development banks in the less

In the past, the summit has witnessed the participation of 33 heads of states,
ministerial representation from 43 countries, and has been inaugurated by
Hon'ble Prime Minister of India since 2010. The upcoming edition of the summit
will also witness the presence Ms. Tarja Halonen , Former President, Finland,
H.E. Mr Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev, Former President of the Former Soviet
Union, and H.E. Mr Bharrat Jagdeo, Former President, Guyana.

Nobel Laureate Carlo Rubbia, Mr. Thomas L Friedman , Foreign Affairs
Columnist, The New York Times, USA, H.E. Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser ,
President of the sixty-sixth session of the UN General Assembly, Mr. Brice
Lalonde , Executive Coordinator of Rio+20; Mr. Bruno Lafont , Chairman and

DSDS 2013 is entitled "The Global Challenge of Resource Efficient Growth and
Development", which has emerged as one of the most crucial issues facing world
economies at present. The three day summit will explore various ways for
individuals and countries to collaborate on countering the challenges of
resource-efficient growth and towards shaping a better future. The summit,
slated to be held from January 31 to February 02, 2013 in  New Delhi , seeks
to facilitate discussions to strengthen and further the resolutions adopted in
The Future We Want.

The summit will comprise plenary sessions on a range of issues, including:
Adapting to the Impacts of Climate Change; Mitigating Emissions of Greenhouse
Gases and Associated Co-benefits; Employment and Growth Potential of a Green
Economy; Choices before the BRICS and a New Economic Construct; Sustainable
Development and the New Knowledge Economy; and Defining the Future We Want .
