Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation Dedicates Field of Honor at Fort
Campaign monument at Manhart Field commemorates contributions of the 4^th
Infantry Division during World War I through present day conflicts
NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. -- December 20, 2012
Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to
honoring the contributions and sacrifices of military personnel and their
families, recently completed the construction and dedication of a memorial at
Fort Carson honoring the significant contributions of the installation’s 4th
Infantry Division during World War I, World War II, the conflict in Vietnam,
and Operations Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn and Enduring Freedom.
A mission of Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation includes developing
remembrance parks at various sites where Balfour Beatty Communities, LLC, a
leading provider of privatized military family housing, operates throughout
the United States. Fort Carson is the third Balfour Beatty Communities project
location where the Foundation has created a place of remembrance for family
and friends to reflect upon the unselfish contributions made by our nation’s
Situated on Manhart Field, which is located on Nelson Boulevard between Chiles
Avenue and Wetzel Avenue, the “Field of Honor” consists of a series of marble
markers representing the country’s various military campaigns and the 4th
Infantry Division’s role in and contributions to each. The campaign monument
is also surrounded by paved walkways and sitting areas.
The project was conceived and funded by Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation.
Among the organizations generously donating their time and resources for the
construction and maintenance of the memorial were Balfour Beatty Construction,
Niles Bolton Associates, Mimbela Contractors, Rocky Mountain Memorials, Top of
the Peak, Pioneer Sand Company, LandTech Contractors, PowerPlus Electric,
Pucciano & English, and Woolpert.
“Fort Carson and the 4th Infantry Division have played a critical role during
our country’s most challenging times,” said Chris Williams, President of both
the Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation and Balfour Beatty Communities, LLC.
“With this Field of Honor we memorialize and honor those contributions.”
Among the speakers at the dedication ceremony held December 14th were Major
General Joseph Anderson, Commanding General 4th Infantry Division and Fort
Carson, and John Carson, the great grandson of Kit Carson, the legendary Army
scout who explored much of the West in the 1800s and for whom the installation
