CHICAGO – The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) anticipates that an 
estimated 2.4 million passengers will travel through Chicago’s airports for the 
holiday travel period beginning Friday, December 21, 2012 through Wednesday, 
January 2, 2013. The busiest travel day at both airports is projected to be 
Friday, December 21, with an estimated 200,000 passengers at O’Hare and nearly 
66,000 passengers at Midway. 
“We are pleased to welcome millions of travelers at Chicago’s airports for the 
holidays," said CDA Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino. “The CDA and its 
airport partners are ready to provide a safe, efficient and festive travel 
experience for the millions of passengers that will fly through O’Hare and 
Midway International Airports.” 
The CDA will continue to host live entertainment at both airports, including 
choirs and other musical performances through Friday, December 21. Performances 
will be held at O’Hare stages beyond the security checkpoints in Terminals 2 
and 3, in the baggage claim area of Terminal 1 and in the Arrivals Level of 
International Terminal 5. Entertainment at Midway will take place in the 
Baggage Claim area.  Members of the internationally-renowned Rockettes will be 
available for photographs in the ticketing area of Terminal 2 from 10:30 a.m. 
to 12:15 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012. 
Free gift-wrapping services will also continue to be offered by the CDA at both 
airports through Friday, December 21. Gift-wrapping is available past security 
in each domestic terminal at O’Hare from noon to 5 p.m. and in the food court 
at Midway from 11 a.m. to
3 p.m. 
Volunteers at Midway will offer complimentary hot cocoa to travelers on the 
evenings of Friday, December 21 and Wednesday, January 2, 2013. 
The USO of Illinois Centers at both O’Hare and Midway will provide military 
personnel and their families with a place to relax, enjoy a snack, check e-mail 
and readjust to life before returning home or being deployed. The O’Hare USO 
Center is located in Terminal 2 on the mezzanine level.  USO staff will operate 
hospitality tables, with baked goods and bottled water for military personnel, 
on Friday, December 21 and Saturday, December 22. The USO at O’Hare also 
operates a Cyber Canteen in Terminal 3.
The Midway USO Center is located in Concourse C. All USO Centers will remain 
open throughout the holiday period.
