Global Water and Thames Water extend partnership to research improved service
for residential and commercial customers with a bespoke FATHOM™ offering
PHOENIX, AZ, Dec. 19, 2012 /CNW/ - GWR Global Water Resources Corp. (TSX:
GWR), Global Water Resources, Inc. ("Global Water") and Thames Water Utilities
Ltd. ("Thames Water") in the United Kingdom today announced that they have
entered into an agreement to research how they can leverage the power of
Global Water's FATHOM™ platform by constructing a model customer service
office designed to deliver stellar customer service to over 60,000 of Thames
Water's residential customers and all commercial customers that consume more
than five megaliters of water per year. The FATHOM™ platform has been
proven to improve customer service and lower operating costs, and under this
agreement, Global Water will customize FATHOM™'s cloud-based Customer
Information System (CIS) to deliver Thames Water-specific elements to further
enhance these abilities. This project leverages the initial automated metering
infrastructure pilot work completed by Thames Water and Global Water, and will
explore the benefits of real-time data to customers, providing them actionable
information on their water use through FATHOM™'s customer portal.
"This is part of our ongoing effort to improve our customer service," said
Natalie Beckerman, Thames Water's Customer Service Director. "Understanding
our customers' journey and providing easy, accurate and meaningful information
is a key element in our relationship with them."
"Our commercial customer base is demanding more information and a higher level
of service. Our research shows Global Water and the FATHOM™ platform lead
the sector in delivering an engaging customer journey at operational costs
that are among the lowest in the sector. We believe this project represents
a step function change in how Thames Water will engage its customers and
presents an opportunity to lead the sector in meeting and exceeding the
increasing demands of our commercial utility customers," said Piers Clark,
Thames Water's Commercial Director.
Trevor Hill, President and CEO of Global Water noted, "Expanding FATHOM™ to
a wider population within Thames Water allows us to further demonstrate the
benefit of our consumer-facing demand-side management tools. We are very
excited to work together in partnership with a company as committed to
customer service as Thames Water and we believe our collaboration will
generate new and powerful tools for the water industry and our customers.
Putting information in the hands of customers through a cloud- based
deployment while at the same time reducing costs and risk to the utility is
one of the many benefits of FATHOM™."
FATHOM™ is deployed as an integrated suite of utility-to-utility services
including Automated Meter Infrastructure, Customer Information System and
Asset Management solutions that have been proven to lower utility operating
costs while improving service levels. The solution is hosted in a secure cloud
computing environment, which makes implementation rapid and requires no
additional IT personnel or infrastructure. Further, and increasingly
importantly, FATHOM™ can be deployed incrementally, allowing utilities to
demonstrate its power on their highest value customers before rolling it out
to their entire client population.
