Public Safety Minister Toews Announces Appointments to the Parole
Board of Canada 
OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 12/18/12 -- The Honourable Vic
Toews, Minister of Public Safety, today announced appointments to the
Parole Board of Canada (PBC). 
"As an independent administrative tribunal, the Parole Board of
Canada makes conditional release and record suspension decisions and
clemency recommendations that contribute to the protection of
society," said Minister Toews. "I congratulate these highly
qualified, knowledgeable and experienced individuals on their
appointments." 
Pierre Cadieux of Rigaud, Quebec, is appointed as a part-time Board
member to the PBC Quebec region. Mr. Cadieux was first appointed as a
part-time member in 1993 until 2007; and as a full-time member from
2007 to 2012. Mr. Cadieux is a lawyer with diverse experience in the
private sector. From 1984 to 1991, he was a Rigaud municipal
councillor, and he has been a member of the executive committee of
the Fondation du Foyer de Rigaud since 1994.  
Natasha Crooks-Day of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, is appointed as a
full-time Board member to the PBC Prairies region. Since 2005, Ms.
Crooks-Day worked as Counsel with the Department of Justice Canada.
She also worked at a number of federal departments, including the
Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Correctional Service of Canada. 
Murray Allan Dodds of Calgary, Alberta, is re-appointed as a
part-time Board member to the PBC Prairies region. He was first
appointed to the Board in December 2006. Mr. Dodds has 22 years of
experience in various positions with the Alberta Department of
Justice, including as Probation and Parole Officer, Community
Corrections Manager, District Director Correctional Services, and
Deputy Director, Calgary Young Offender Centre.  
Ian S. Fowler of Calgary, Alberta, is re-appointed as a part-time
Board member to the PBC Prairies region. He was first appointed to
the Board in 2006. Mr. Fowler has extensive experience in the energy
industry, specializing in risk analysis, as well as strategic,
operations and corporate planning. Mr. Fowler enjoyed a long career
with ConocoPhillips Canada/Gulf Canada Resources Ltd.  
Denis Jolette of Ottawa, Ontario, is re-appointed as a full-time
Board member to the PBC Appeal Division in Ottawa. Mr
. Jolette was
first appointed to the Board in February 2008. He has nearly 25 years
of management experience in the federal government and private sector
in providing strategic advice to leaders, Ministers, Members of
Parliament, Deputy Ministers and CEOs.  
Stuart James Whitley of North Vancouver, British Columbia, is
designated as Vice-Chairperson to the PBC Pacific region. Mr. Whitley
was appointed as a full-time Board member in November 2012. Prior to
joining the Board, he was the Yukon Deputy Minister of Health and
Social Services. He has also worked as Senior Regional Director and
Director of Policy, Programs and Integration at Justice Canada;
Deputy Minister of Justice for Yukon; and Assistant Deputy Attorney
General for Manitoba.
