Solumina Software Leveraged by BAE Systems to Streamline Manufacturing
FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif. -- December 18, 2012
iBASEt’s Solumina suite of paperless shop floor tools is being deployed by BAE
Systems Electronic Systems to integrate and standardize its work instructions
as well as collect data electronically from the plant floor, including machine
completions and parameter data.
BAE Systems initiated a project to harmonize its operations process management
across its Electronic Systems manufacturing facilities, utilizing Solumina’s
process planning, execution and quality tools. BAE Systems is leveraging
capabilities built into Solumina to capture work-in-process (WIP) completions
automatically and test data directly from machines, minimizing employee work
disruptions and non-value adding tasks. Solumina also processes and validates
this data in real time – just like it does with manually entered data – and
alerts the appropriate teams when Six Sigma process rules or engineering
requirements are violated.
“Implementing common factory processes across both our workforce and automated
machines gives us a unique ability to control our process capabilities
consistently and ensure the best product for our customers,” said Steve
Rubenfeld, program manager at BAE Systems. “Solumina will help us maintain
these auditable processes with minimal effort.”
BAE Systems selected iBASEt’s Solumina solution in February 2012 because of
its extensive features and shop floor harmonization capabilities.
“Solumina has more than 3,700 out-of-the-box features tailored to complex,
discrete industries, such as aerospace and medical devices, that customers
leverage as they advance down the Lean/Six-Sigma path,” said Michel Gadbois,
Vice President at iBASEt.
iBASEt is a leading provider of software solutions to complex, highly
regulated industries, like Aerospace and Defense, Medical Devices, Nuclear,
Industrial Equipment, Electronics and Shipbuilding. iBASEt’s Solumina software
streamlines and integrates Manufacturing Execution System and Operations
Management (MES/MOM), Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and Quality
Management System (QMS) for operations and supplier management. Solumina is
implemented by industry leaders, including BAE Systems, General Dynamics,
Lockheed Martin, NASA, Northrop Grumman, United Technologies and United Space
