Toyota Motor Europe announces executive appointments for January 2013, 
strengthens R&D function  
Toyota Motor Europe (TME) today announced several executive level 
appointments at its headquarters in Brussels and at Toyota Motor 
Manufacturing, UK, effective 1 January 2013.  
Mr Tetsuji Sano is appointed Vice President, Research and Development 1, 
TME.  TME?s Research & Development in Zaventem (Brussels) is being 
reorganised in three functions in line with TME?s strategy of becoming the 
global planning centre for A, B and C segment vehicles.  R&D 1 and 2, each 
led by a Vice President, will lead the planning and execution of vehicle 
projects for the European market with focus on the key competency centres 
for Europe ? diesel development, interior quality, and vehicle dynamics. 
R&D 3 will cover the Advanced Research and Technical Affairs areas.  
Mr Katsutoshi Nishimoto is appointed Vice President, Operations Management 
Development, TME. This function coordinates the implementation of the 
Toyota Production System and supports manufacturing and logistics 
productivity improvements in Toyota?s nine factories in Europe. 
Mr Shigeru Teramoto is appointed Managing Director of Toyota Motor 
Manufacturing, UK (TMUK), TME?s manufacturing subsidiary in the UK.  TMUK 
has two facilities, a vehicle assembly plant in Burnaston (Derbyshire), 
which manufactures the Toyota Avensis, the Toyota Auris and Auris Hybrid, 
and an engine plant in Deeside (Flintshire, Wales), which manufactures 
VVT-i 1.6l and 1.8l engines.
