GARLAND, Texas, Dec. 13, 2012

GARLAND, Texas, Dec. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has
renewed its Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI^®) Level 3
certification rating for Development at the company's Intelligence and
Information Systems (IIS) business. This CMMI Level 3 certification enables
IIS to further drive customer success across all sites through efficient
program execution built on integrated common processes.

"This is a huge achievement that demonstrates our continued focus on
disciplined execution while ensuring we deliver quality products and solutions
to meet our customers' needs," said Lynn Mortensen, vice president of IIS
Engineering.

IIS first attained CMMI Level 3 for Systems and Software Engineering for all
sites in 2006. The business expanded on this achievement by attaining CMMI
Level 3 for Development and Integrated Product and Process Development in
2009. This achievement was recertified in October 2012 using CMMI-Development
v1.3.

In 2012, IIS reached a CMMI Level 3 benchmark that only 52 percent of all U.S.
appraisals recorded by the CMMI Institute at Carnegie Mellon University meet.
IIS is a leading provider of intelligence and information solutions to the
government.

About the CMMI Institute
The CMMI Institute, based in Pittsburgh, is a 100 percent-controlled
subsidiary of Carnegie Innovations, Carnegie Mellon University's technology
commercialization enterprise. The Institute is dedicated to elevating
organizational performance through best-in-class solutions to real-world
challenges. It is the home of the Capability Maturity Model Integration
(CMMI), a process improvement framework that guides organizations in software
and systems development, acquisition, and service delivery to create
high-performance, high-maturity cultures. The CMMI Institute Product Suite
also includes the People Capability Maturity Model for workforce development
and the Data Management Maturity Model.

CMMI is recognized worldwide as the standard by which businesses can measure
the maturity of their technical and managerial processes. The levels indicate
an organization's ability to provide predictable quality while managing and
controlling project risks. CMMI helps integrate traditionally separate
organizational functions, set process improvement goals and priorities,
provide guidance for quality processes, and provide a point of reference for
appraising current processes. CMMI is registered in the U.S. Patent and
Trademark Office by Carnegie Mellon University.
