Unilever Greece implements Zetes’ untrained voice solution in 1 month
and has order pickers up and running in no time
* Easy to use for all operators: untrained system means
dialogue adapts to different user levels with no registration of voice profile
required
*                     Direct integration with SAP
* Rapid implementation: 1 month, including development of
custom RFC’s
Brussels, 4 December 2012 – Unilever Greece has implemented a Zetes voice
picking solution and in doing so, become one of the first countries within the
Unilever Group to adopt voice technology. Additionally, by selecting an
‘untrained’ voice system offering adaptive dialogues, the company could realise
productivity and accuracy benefits immediately, because even inexperienced
operators were able begin using the new system straight away.
Working from a brand new warehouse in Schimatari, 20 Unilever operators now
execute order picking tasks with the help of Zetes’ voice solution, 3iV
Crystal. The solution was implemented within one month, which included
development of custom RFC’s for direct integration with Unilever’s SAP ERP
system.
Adapted to all users
The ‘user independent’ or ‘untrained’ approach offered by Zetes means that
operators no longer need to register a voice profile before starting work and
can simply access the system immediately using their own language. In addition,
the system offers two types of voice dialogues, adapted to suit beginners or
more experienced operators. Depending on their individual level of expertise,
operators can be guided through the picking process using appropriately
detailed instructions. As a result of this feature, the 20 Unilever operators,
ranging in age from 30 to 50 years old and with no previous experience working
with a voice system, were up and working to optimum productivity in no time.
Direct integration with SAP
The voice solution integrates directly with SAP via custom built RFC’s. Using
SAP’s standard integration options, the solution eliminates the need for
middleware or intermediate business logic layers. With this approach, Unilever
can store its business critical data within a single location, the SAP ERP
system. The entire design and implementation process was completed in just 1
month.
George Antipas, Logistics Manager at Unilever says, “The solution integrates
perfectly with our SAP system and the untrained approach means new or temporary
workers can be up to speed immediately.”
Alain Wirtz, CEO of Zetes, concludes, “Zetes has a longstanding reputation for
developing and delivering voice solutions and we continue to invest in further
technology enhancements. Through a close collaboration with our R&D-focused
sister company, MCL Technologies and their platform MCL voice, we can offer
customers the option of implementing 3iV Crystal as an untrained voice system.
This new approach is gaining momentum in the mature voice market and means
customers such as Unilever can benefit from having new and temporary operators
up and running in no time.”
