ATLANTA, Nov. 30, 2012

ATLANTA, Nov. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The December events of Georgia Chapter
of the Public Relations Society of America ( include the
Chapter's monthly luncheon on communications of the merged Southwest
Airlines-AirTran company and a pre-luncheon seminar on internal communication
and merging corporate cultures.

The monthly luncheon, "Communications in a Post-Merger World: Integrating the
cultures and brands of Southwest Airlines and AirTran," will feature Whitney
Eichinger, senior manager, communications of Southwest Airlines, speaking on
the merger of the two airlines.  Topics covered will be:

  o How are Southwest and AirTran leaders using PR to manage their brands and
    ensure a clear corporate voice through the merger process?
  o What role does social media play in the merger communications strategy?
  o How will Southwest use PR to build brand awareness and advocacy in its new

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and the luncheon will be from noon to 1

Prior to the lunch a morning seminar, "Southwest and AirTran: Lessons from an
Internal Communication Success Story," will be led by Eichinger and Brad
Hawkins, manager of communications, Southwest Airlines.

In the seminar, attendees will learn how to:

  o Plan internal communication as a longterm process
  o Integrate internal and external messaging
  o Create dialogue with stakeholders
  o Time communications correctly
  o Write key message points (rationale, vision, transparency, WIFM–What's In
    It For Me)
  o Coordinate multiple communication channels, and
  o Use employee brand ambassadors in social media 

Registration for the seminar begins at 9 a.m. and the seminar will be from

PRSA|GA, the second-largest local chapter in the national society, consists of
some 850 professionals throughout Georgia.  Its mission is to enhance the
profession, provide continuing education and offer networking opportunities
for its members.

The Chapter has regular monthly meetings and seminars, an Annual Conference
for professionals and an annual Real World Collegiate Conference.  Nine
Special Interest Groups meet at various times and the Chapter supports nine
