Mitsubishi Motors Announces Production, Sales and Export Figures for October 2012

Tokyo, Nov 29, 2012 - (JCN Newswire) - Mitsubishi Motors Corporation today announced global production, as well as domestic sales and export figures for October 2012.

Production: total and in Japan

Total global production for October came in at 102,901 units, 28.1 percent up over October 2011 and the third consecutive monthly year-on-year increase since July this year. Production volume in Japan at 41,060 units was 19.1 percent down, the fifth consecutive monthly year-on-year decrease since May this year. Passenger car output at 35,561 units was 17.9 percent down. Commercial vehicle output at 5,499 units was 26.2 percent down.

Sales in Japan

Vehicle sales in Japan in October totaled 10,118 units, 0.2 percent down on the same month last year and the sixth consecutive monthly year-on-year decline since April this year. Sales of passenger cars at 7,634 units were 0.5 percent down while sales of commercial vehicles at 2,484 units were 1.1 percent up over the same month last year. Registered vehicle sales volume at 5,373 units was 32.3 percent up while minicar sales volume at 4,745 units was 21.9 percent down on the same month last year.

Production overseas

Overseas production volume totaled 61,841 units, 108.9 percent up over October last year and the eighth consecutive monthly year-on-year increase since February this year. By region, output in Asia at 50,863 units was 114.1 percent up year on year boosted chiefly by a 283.7 percent increase at 39,545 units at MMTh in Thailand due to the addition of the new Mirage to the production line and full recovery from the impact of the flooding last year. In China, output at 491 units was 84.6 percent down on October last year. In North America, output at 5,232 units was 338.2 percent up over the same month last year, due mainly to gearing up to full-scale production of the new Outlander Sport model. In Europe, output at 2,176 units was 35.4 percent up on last year. In South America output at 3,570 units was 20.2 percent up over October last year.

Export shipments from Japan

Total exports from Japan of 29,361 units were 12.9 percent down on October 2011, marking the fifth consecutive monthly year-on-year fall since May this year. Exports to Asia at 4,684 units were 26.6 percent up year on year. Exports to North America at 2,095 units were 31.1 percent down over October last year. Exports to Europe at 13,004 units were 4.3 percent up year on year.
