CORALVILLE, Iowa -- November 17, 2012

In the 15 years that GEICO has been in Coralville, the company’s associates
have become a pivotal part of the company’s sales and service operations.
They’ve also become a strong force of volunteers and taken the lead on several
local civic and charitable fund-raising programs.

“We’re very thankful for the work they do in the office and in the community,”
said Gary Brown, regional vice president. “They built a first-class business
operation from the ground up, and then they learned how they could be of
service outside the office. We’re lucky to have so many good people with
GEICO.”

GEICO’s Coralville office opened in 1997 in 29,000 square feet of space at the
vacant Eagle store on Second Street. Training rooms for the first 80 employees
were under construction in the old produce section.

Now with a 15-year record of success and 350 associates, GEICO is looking
ahead and plans to hire 100 new associates in the next 12 months. “Based on
the talented associates we’ve hired in the area, we expect future hires will
be equally as committed to our policyholders and eager to learn the business,”
said Lona Montgomery, Coralville director.

Many of GEICO’s current associates are from Iowa and have been with GEICO
since the Coralville office opened. They have a lot of community spirit. “We
have a good citizens group that coordinates our civic and charitable
activities,” noted Montgomery.

“They’re the first to help those in need,” she continued. “While communities
on the East Coast began to feel the effects of Hurricane Sandy, our associates
had already mobilized to support hurricane victims by raising funds and
packing supplies.”

Last year, GEICO associates contributed an average of $100 to the local United
Way campaign. They participated in Toys for Tots, Habitat for Humanity, Ronald
McDonald House, the Special Olympics and the March of Dimes walk as they do
every year.

“You can see why we’re thankful to have such a solid group of people working
at GEICO,” Montgomery stated. “They make us very proud,”
